Why don't they say "Chicago Guy" Parkins and "Jersey Guy" Spiegel?

Lemone Lampley! Holy shit, there's a pull from the past.

I haven't heard that name in years. I was a Marty Embry guy myself.

In general I wouldn't put Syracuse on the same level as Duke, but in the industry they're in Syracuse might be more prestigious.

They have different rankings from year to year but Syracuse, Northwestern and Missouri are always in the top 10 for journalism studies.

True. I am not even sure why Duke is as highly rated as it is at anything really. Because rich people want to go south and keep others away?

Embry is now a chef. Imagine complaining about the food and he comes out to your table.

Is there a problem?

no

Didn't think so.

When I was in 7-8th grade our basketball coach was buddies with Sam. He had him come to our banquet to hand us our trophies. Back then DePaul was huge and that was a big deal to us.

We had Billy Braksick from Flanagan come to our banquet in 8th grade. They had just lost to Marty Simmons and Lawrenceville in the IHSA final. The dude was 7-feet in high school. I guess we didn't have quite the cachet of pittmike's school.

Haven't heard that name in a long time. My brother played with him at Quigley South.

His nickname was The Cookie Man in college because of his love for cooking. I always figured he would be a chef but was surprised to read he played pro basketball in Europe for 13 years. I remember him as a big, powerful guy with no skills but maybe that is because De Paul was good back then and he was with much more talented players.

No, that's how I remember him too.

And yet, he still seems like a more skilled Kevin Holmes.

Dennis Mc Guire was famous for his Ray Meyer endorsement when he was running for judge "Put Dennis on the bench...I did."

I just did a Google search on what Kevin Holmes was up to - I had no idea that Andre Holmes was his kid.

That guy is pretty good.

You look at some of those guys and it's no wonder the starters played the whole game. I think Chris Nikitas was the sixth man.

Syracuse is more highly regarded in the sports end of the business.

Jim Wallace was a student teacher at my middle school when I was in seventh grade. He was one of the heroes when Northwestern smoked a highly-ranked Kentucky team in 1975 or 1976. I would bet a bunch of money that that is the only time NU has ever beaten Kentucky.

Is it just me or does the pic/voice of Parkins not match up? He looks like an 18 year old kid, but sounds like he's 40.

Yeah, it's Russ Mitera syndrome.

Yes. He does.

I listened to 2 hours of Kansas City radio this morning.
