I put on AM1000 when I was making dinner this evening expecting to hear Finer and/or Jeff Dickerson but instead there was national programming in the form of a show called Izzy and Spain. Izzy was there but Sarah Spain was not, and a guy named Amin Elhassan was there instead. Both of these guys cover the NBA. Izzy said he was watching a Bulls game and had no idea who Paul Zipser was. Amin then told a story of how, about a month ago, he was in a hotel with two other NBA writers when Mike Miller came in. Amin thought he was retired and now part of the media in some capacity and was shocked when the other two guys told him he is on the Nuggets' roster. They both said they must be getting old because they didn't know who these guys were. Too old? I don't think either of them are over 40. It just sounds like they're not good at their job. If you cover the NBA for a living I would expect you to know, halfway through the season, which players are in the league.

Amin also didn't know that the Pittsburgh/KC game had been moved to a later start time. I don't work in sports, I only listened to about 20 minutes of sports radio today, and I knew that.

Am I being unrealistic in what I expect these guys to know?
