The Blackhawks in January happened.

Minnesota somehow has five games in hand and they're only two points back. If they win on Sunday, they take the lead (in the NHL's phony day-to-day standings; they've led the Hawks in winning percentage for weeks now), and at some point in the months to come the Hawks will just have to stand around with their dicks in their hands while Minnesota catches up in games played. It might not be pretty.

I already explained how finishing first in the division and playing someone from the blob of mediocrity around the wild cards will be much better than finishing second and playing St. Louis. The Blues aren't as good as they were last year but with Tarasenko might not have to be.
