This board has some smart people. If you are claiming to be the only unbiased person or the only person willing to tell the truth when it comes to a particular topic and literally the entire board disagrees with you, you're clearly wrong and should maybe just move on. This isn't just for America

I don't believe I'm the only unbiased person who posts here when it comes to Trump, but I do think I was the only unbiased one in that conversation at the time. The reflex for MANY is to believe Trump is wrong no matter what. The Lewis dustup is a good example. Lewis is the one who called the presidency into question. Yet Trump's response was what was seized upon.

But hey, I saw Chus refer to Obama as "Barry" recently so we may be making progress.

LITERALLY the entire board? You dont think there may be a few people who often agree but dont want to be turned into pariahs?

And you know if you come into things with an open mind and actually try to understand people's arguments, no matter how often they are shouted down by the majority or conventional thinking, you may come away with a bit of a perspective or new way of thinking of things. JORR definitely altered the way I think of W-L record for pitchers, and if you took his argument to "smart. baseball. people" they'd laugh him off the stage...but I get it.

Or you can just assume what everyone else is believing must be correct and that any dissent is "clearly wrong". I was called out by a couple actual morons in the other thread for changing my opinion like it was a bad thing. Like if you dont stay completely consistent in your beliefs over the course of YEARS its a character fault. Maybe its the other way around, maybe its bad if your ego is too grandiose to ever admit (even to yourself) that you're wrong and that your mind can never be changed.

The unbiased way to look at the Lewis/Trump thing is to realize they were both wrong and came off looking very poor.

Though I think Trump is wrong 99% of the time, I will admit that I wouldn't agree with him on such an issue even if he were right. My distaste for his entire existence is enough to make me argue against him sometimes and do so even consciously.

If I admit that, will you admit that sometimes you go too far the other way in trying to be objective to a point where you actually become biased in the opposite direction?

12 Angry Men really is a great movie/play/story that addresses this issue. They made us watch it my first day of college, and it was very impactful. I think of it often.

Most of my viewpoints when it comes to Trump have focused on the media. Sure, I'll discuss politics because it kills time. I like to keep abreast of what's happening in the world, but I'm really not political.

I don't think any president has had more than very minimal effect on my life and I don't believe that will change with Donald Trump. That's the main reason I'm not biased. I don't really care very much. Sure, I'm disturbed that Trump was elected from the perspective of, "is this the best we can do?" But Trump can't really be measured without considering what the other choice was. For MANY people that was even worse. I preferred her for the same reason The Establishment did, simply because you knew what you were going to get.

For some reason my criticisms of the way Trump is covered are misconstrued as defenses of Trump. And that's just not true.

You have defended Trump even when it didn't involve the media.

You along with a number of people here were completely biased regarding Hillary Clinton. When it got to a point where the Community Reinvestment Act was mislabeled as something which helped to divide older and younger blacks then you really know there is a problem.

As far as Trump bias yeah I have it and the reason that I have it is because he is a racist that promotes racist views. He has an unabashed bias towards blacks. I'm black and that will never sit well with me.

Be a man of honor and admit that your criticisms of the media have "grayed" to a point where you actually are biased toward Trump. We're all human - it happens. You absolutely hate Hillary Clinton. I also dislike her very much, but I don't think it's close to your level. You have trouble reconciling your hatred for her with supporting a whack job like Trump. I'm not saying you're not occasionally right on the press stuff or even in your defenses of Trump, but come on... it's an emotional issue for you and you have gone the opposite way to a point where you defend Trump in general, not just his media coverage.

Also, wins don't matter.

I definitely hate Hillary Clinton. I'm certainly biased when it comes to her. But I'm not biased toward Trump. And in spite of my hatred of Hillary Clinton, I would have voted for her vs. Trump if I had lived in a state where it was going to make a difference.

Trump is the president now. I'm not rooting for him to have a terrible four years just so a Democrat can get back to the White House. Like I said, I'm not political in that way.

Community Reinvestment Act was someone else. In the intelligence community versus Trump debate you defended Trump.

I wasn't defending Trump. I just don't trust the intelligence community. I think there is plenty of reason to believe a concerted effort is being made by that community to undermine a Trump presidency. Since you don't like Trump, you may think that's a good thing.

Rather frightening the amount of influence these unelected officials have over American politics. Since when was "the intelligence community" supposed to be a vocal group in political discourse?

Though I think Trump is wrong 99% of the time, I will admit that I wouldn't agree with him on such an issue even if he were right. My distaste for his entire existence is enough to make me argue against him sometimes and do so even consciously.

 Thank you for acknowledging that. You and LTG were the main biased guys in the discussion.

If I admit that, will you admit that sometimes you go too far the other way in trying to be objective to a point where you actually become biased in the opposite direction?

What about Hillary and her emails?

You should watch 12 Angry Men.

I have a sneaking suspicion that the version you've watched is not the B&W movie MANY of us have seen, fruit-loop.

You want advice?

Don't take food recommendations from leash or IMU.
