That's a reasonable approach LTG. Folks will see that populism will fail, and demogogery doesn't solve problems. Paul Ryan's town hall this week was excellent for those looking for a true right of center approach. You can watch the one hour show on CNN on demand.

I listened to an interview with on The Morning Shift with Austan Goolsbee and David Axelrod that was sort of a wrap-up of the Obama presidency. Sarabia asked whether these businessmen with no experience with making policy were going to be able to get anything done. Goolsbee laughed and said, "We're gonna find out." Then he went on to say that he suspects that because they have no experience, it will likely be left to Congress to make the policy and so we will probably see something like a traditional conservative Republican agenda.

The funniest thing in the interview was Axelrod dancing around the fact that, like most hetero black dudes, Obama is homophobic as fuck and was really against gay marriage. Axelrod kept saying, "It took him time to get to where he wanted to go."

It feels like Congress is going to reclaim its role as making policy.

That's not the point. The point is that no one should give a fuck.

You're ultimate point is right. What the Trump/Lewis episode shows is Trump's lack of any big picture thinking.

But you shouldn't say maybe. What Lewis said was wrong. It wasn't a wise statement. Trump had the perfect opportunity to take the high road. Have the media and such criticize Lewis for not respecting an election.

But you know Trump isn't going to take "the high road". He's going to punch back. For many people that's part of his appeal. He does what they would do. I guarantee If I posted a "Kirkwood is an Illegitimate poster" thread, you'd respond. Now, you may not want that from your president. I know I don't. But MANY people like it. He's redefining convention.

My point in saying "maybe" wasn't to dispute what Lewis did was wrong. It was just to convey that I care very little. he's a Congressman from Georgia. An argument could be made that he's a big part of the Dem establishment, but he's still a Congressman from Georgia.

It isn't the same because as posters we're all equal. Mark Zuckerberg has more important things to do than respond to every attack on Facebook. A man as powerful as Trump weakens himself when he punches down. It also makes him an easy target. John Lewis exploited his lack of awareness and restraint this weekend and baited him into making foolish Tweets.

The attack on the CIA is a little bit more frightening. I guess you would call what Trump Tweeted "fake news".

It's really more about how Trump attacked him back than it is that he did though. There are ways to fight back what he said without going down to the level that Trump did.

I don't think Lewis was intending to bait him. He just finally got to the Democrats' endgame when it comes to calling the election results into question. It's all part of the same strategy- Electoral College, Comey, Russian hacking, etc. He just happens to be the first guy to actually state that Trump is not a legitimate president.

And you can see from the response to this that Lewis is very powerful and has plenty of people willing to defend him even when he makes a truly anti-American statement.

This too. Considering what Lewis has done in life that attack was comical. It's possible Trump didn't know.

Come to find out Donald Trump's attack on John Lewis is even worse than I thought. John Lewis district is FAR from being"in horrible shape and falling apart (not to mention crime infested)". I guess he believes any district of a black congressman must be in the ghetto.

I havent been paying attention the last two days but from what I remember Lewis launched a very serious attack on Trump and Trump, characteristically, responded in tit for tat fashion. Trump may be off base in his response and maybe reckless, but the way you framed it (Trump's attack on Lewis) is sort of misleading. It's a response.
