I'd say this is a good choice.

Ehhh he gets lumped with Snowden a lot but really the two are not very similar. Manning did not leak information in an effort to expose the US govts behavior, wasn't like that. Did you learn anything from the Manning leaks? Did it affect your knowledge of what your govt does?

You are referring to the choice to become a woman? Because a white male wouldn't have had a chance, and gender identity issues make you a hero to the SJW crowd.

Transitioned to a woman while in a man's prison. Attempted suicide twice last year. Not a good look to keep up imprisonment.

I dont think Snowden is a hero but he did a service to the American people.

Manning wasn't getting enough attention from his superiors and felt disrespected so he decided to leak a bunch of diplomatic cables and operational reports that had very few pieces of relevant information for the voting public. All Manning did was put people at risk for no real benefit, at least Snowden exposed the NSA.

We could have this conversation if Snowden didn't run directly to the enemy and aid them afterwards.

If he couldn't do the time he shouldn't have done the crime.

I remain firmly in the Snowden is a whistle-blower camp. If he worked for Microsoft, exposed illegal behavior, quit, and then went to work for Google, the law would protect him. I don't like the fleeing to Russia, but based upon what he knew and had, it was a good shot he would have disappeared to never be heard from again. And the bad behavior by our spies would have continued unabated.

Now maybe due process would have worked in his case, but those spies don't seem to believe in due process. Quite the paradox. Like when they don't want to follow the Geneva Conventions, they just ship a terrorist to a country that doesn't follow the Conventions. Or keep suspects in Cuba without trial for years on end.

Right. Snowden is not a hero. Its impossible to get inside his head and find his true motivation but I suspect he wanted notoriety and fame. I think he had some IRC friends who said he wouldn't dare do it and he decided to show them up too.

But, the result of his actions has changed permanently the way Americans view our intelligence community and how we shouldn't ever trust them. That's a good outcome.

I won't use the word hero. Part of me feels that way, but BRick is right about him fleeing. Still, he ruined his life by exposing illegal behavior. If he doesn't do that, then how does that stuff ever get exposed. If my recollection is correct, he tried to go through the proper channels first.

Proper channels? The NSA was operating exactly as was it was intended to operate, if he reported this to his boss his boss would've told him "good job".

He doesnt have kids, I dont think he really likes his girlfriend that much. He was bored living in suburban Maryland doing a stupid job so he wanted to go on an adventure. I can kind of sympathize with it.

Do you think someone branded a traitor would try numerous avenues out of a male military prison?

He simply had to walk into any media network office at the same time and he couldn't be disappeared.

And now the official CSFMB Fake justifications for letting him out.

Amazing.

He would be at the hell prison in Colorado, which is not a fate he should be looking forward to.

Well then don't do what he did. Some times sacrifices are needed. Instead he ran to Russia and aided them in many ways.

Didn't he just commute the sentence and not pardon her? She'd still be a felon with a dishonorable discharge so things aren't going to go too great for her. Beats prison for sure though.

Want to bet this little shit pops up in Russia in a month or so of getting out. He commited treason. He was not a civilian,he was a member of the military. In an active war zone. He should have been hung a long time ago. Assange and Snoden are only free because they where smart enough to run while they had the chance. This moron stuck around.
