last spring/summer there was some supposedly "leaked texts" purporting to be from someone high up in BLM to uhhh.... loretta lynch? yeah someone in the obama administration, and these texts showed an up-n-back talking about how they planned for a summer of increasing protests/violence/etc with the ultimate hope to make such a shitshow that martial law would be declared b4 the election and that obama would stay as president indefinitely (which was deemed an "acceptable" outcome by whoever the BLM person was)

so idk if these purported "leaked texts" were the origins of this sentiment or ultimately more of "an example" of this sentiment, but suffice to say that people were legit worried that an increasingly-imminent trump nomination would cause the left to get increasingly more willing to do "whatever it takes" to uphold their "anyone but trump" (aka "NO TRUMP FOR YOU! BAD AMERICA! *SLAPS VOTING HAND*) ethos.

plus, it'd be awfully hard for the legit-racists out there to stick with their "king [n-word]" label if the guy was always just gonna step down and "let the democratic process unfold" so a hypothetical strawman/boogeyman was invented in order to fan the flames [of hate] and ratchet up the intensity that EVERYONE HAS TO GET OUT THERE AND DO SOMETHING B4 [NIGHTMARE SCENARIO] UNFOLDS!!! so that way people with such convictions could hopefully swing more "casual" people over to their "side" via the hope of preventing some kind of [horrible outcome] --- this is a concept that the left obviously isn't used to, so it's no surprise that i'd have to explain it in the here and now =P
