http://chicagoradioandmedia.com/news/87 ... -matt-dahl

This edition of News & Notes (the second of two for the day), features ten media news items that are Chicago radio-related, including: Nick Shepkowski gets promoted at The Score; Cisco Cotto plays a reporter on TV; WXRT-FM hosts another intimate concert inside of a classic movie theater; WLUP-FM has more Loop Rock Girl calendars to give away; WLUP-FM sponsors this year's Chicago Open Air concert event; Cumulus Chicago gives Radio Magazine a tour of their new facilities; WXLC-FM hosts the Cubs' trophy; Jax says goodbye to radio (for now, anyway); Rick Party's voice helps out ESPN Radio; and Matt Dahl gets a new full-time job. These stories can be read below...

* * Nick Shepkowski (pictured) has been a producer with WSCR-AM/670 The Score since 2007, and has also been a weekend/fill-in host for the station. He most recently had been producing for the station's midday show. Shepkowski's time with the station has been rewarded. He has been named as the Executive Producer of the new "Bernstein & Goff" afternoon show, which debuted this week. Matt Abbatacola, who was the Executive Producer of the previous afternoon show, "Boers & Bernstein," moves back to being an update anchor and fill-in host.

"Moves back" doesn't certainly sound like a promotion, but rather a lateral move.

Beardown was crazy to suggest that part-time update guy is a better gig than executive producer of afternoon drive.

"Moves back" sounds like a demotion.

Matt was hoping the move back was to his wife, kids, and home. Mitch didn't tell him it was a career ending demotion.

Drew Hayes was right all along when he said that no one needed to hear what a producer thought.

As Matt Spiegel hosts middays and Goff afternoon drive.

He's not part time. He's the full time update guy for "Bernstein and Goff". They used to have a bunch of guys doing it. Now Julie is the midday girl and drinky is the afternoon guy.

I guess Zack and Grote split the morning updates when their teams aren't in season.

Ranger is the guy that will struggle to get shifts now. Especially when the Cubs start playing.

When the article says "moves back" it just means he's gonna do what he was doing before. Because there was a stretch where drinky was doing updates every day.

This has been a rough six months for El Drinko. He gets thrown out of the house by the wife. He lives in a small apartment, will see his kids rarely, and probably has to cut a check to the wife every month. All because he wanted to nail a hot, married babe. Hey Drinky, if she is cheating on her husband, she will cheat on your dumb ass too. Now, Boers retires, and not only does he not get the gig, he gets demoted.

Like I said, it's not a demotion. And I think if drinky wanted to continue producing B&G, Mitch would have let him. He probably asked to be full time on updates.

Why is this difficult to understand?

Is there any truth to this or is it all rumor and speculation?

Maybe he wanted it, but it is a demotion. Executive producer of a drive time show is a better gig than reading an update twice an hour. Producing a four hour radio show is a lot more work than reading a piece of paper a few minutes per hour.
