Quote:
Crowd surfing is a common sight at rock concerts, much like mosh pits or stage diving.

One woman from Hoffman Estates is claiming she got injured by a crowd surfer when he fell on her last September at Riot Fest, held in Douglas Park in the North Lawndale community.

Nina Zurawel filed a lawsuit Wednesday in Cook County Circuit Court against Riot Fest Corporation, Riot Fest co-founder Michael Petryshyn, security company Safety Service Systems, Inc. and concert promoter React Presents Inc. However, React Presents Inc. is not involved with Riot Fest but instead is affiliated with other local music festivals like North Coast and Spring Awakening.

The lawsuit says that Zurawel attended the music fest on Sept. 17 and was 200 to 300 feet away from the stage where the Brand New rock band was performing when "a large male fan" began crowd surfing. When the crowd began chanting "drop him," the woman unsuccessfully tried to get away from the crowd surfer but couldn't, the lawsuit claimed, and the man was dropped onto her leg.

The complaint, which seeks damages in excess of $50,000, said the woman's ankle was fractured. It alleged the defendants were negligent by allowing crowd surfing and failing to provide adequate security and crowd control.

Riot Fest and Petryshyn declined comment through their attorney. The security company also said it could not comment on the pending litigation.

The four-count negligence suit claims crowd control at the festival was inadequate, and that security should have stopped the crowd surfing. Zurawel is seeking more than $200,000.

So, sue people who are not responsible for excessive amount of money because you're a pussy and/or you're father is a lawyer. As someone who grew up literally witnessing people being cannibalized in Slayer pits, I have to call BS. Buy the ticket take the ride.

She should be embarrassed that she was watching a set by Brand New.

you know, i remember going to a show at the fireside bowl (slapstick dill records release party?) where i was doing my thing in the mosh pit and i saw some dude with LEGIT spiked gauntlets in the corner of my eye start to enter the pit while he was spinning his gauntleted-forearms around his head in such a way that was akin to one of those electrical whippers with the two whippers that you used to use to turn ordinary potatoes into mashed/whipped potatoes. hey ludacris, do you know what i did? exactly!

same thing applies here.

The guy who fell on her ankle should sue her for intentionally dropping him.

If he dove into a crowd unwilling to carry him and landed on the girl, I would probably side with her. It sounds like she was a willing participant though and just caught a bad break (pun intended).

the blame for this falls squarely in the lap of Luna Security

if they weren't too busy canvassing the area looking for people to poach weed from, they might have been able to prevent this

Sounds like Bagels has an axe to grind.
