Why does Mitch hate Hood? What do you think about the future of the Score?

Was Dahl an option back then?

Not saying that would have been a good combo but he certainly had name recognition. Would have been different.

You can easily substitute JHood with Jason Goff, if you need your Hood Fix.

No, that will not work for Nas. No at all.

Not unless you're just looking for an experienced black host. Hood has far more knowledge than Goff and arguably more than anyone currently on the radio in Chicago.

Hey there Cupcake! Thanks for the call. Would have loved to host with Macapalooza there. Great guy. Good guest on Chicago Tribune Live back in the day. Would have been an honor to work with Mackeyfish on a daily basis, but it just wasn't in the cards. Matty Spiegs...right choice at the time. I had a lot on my plate back then. Had some great talks, though. Good times. Should go out to Lou's with Mac and the lovely Sherry some time. Would love to catch up. Let's get this guy a new and improved MyPillow and some Garrett's Popcorn for the question.

Back to the phones!

Isn't it all due to the beefing with Telander? I understood Hood's point, but it was kind of unprofessional.

He was DEFINITELY unprofessional but I don't think it should have destroyed his career. That was the case until the past couple of years.

Yeah, especially because the Score isn't really known for its professionalism.

Isn't Hood still an ESPN employee? And he's also got that Sirus gig. his career isn't dead(anymore than at the score) more stuff can open up for him with the national network.

He's gotten those things in the past couple of years.

If you listen carefully enough, most of what Beardown claims about hosts' egos and personal feelings can be gleaned from being insightful and "listening" beyond the lines.

RE: some of the board's suggestions on who I should have championed for a partnership in 2009 instead of Spiegs.

J Hood was not a possibility. Mitch wanted nothing to do with J at that time. No idea if that's changed.

Doug Buffone was not a consideration. Loved doing Bears/NFL pregame stuff with him more than 20 years ago, but he was not equipped to do all sports. His knowledge of/ and interest-in the NBA and college basketball was less than even mine!

Steve Rosenbloom was not a candidate. Mitch never suggested him and I never was desirous of a full-time partnership with him. He's a comfortable Saturday listen and as a bench guy... not what I would call a starter.

I wasn't desirous of Barry Rozner. I like Barry, but believe he's much better as a contributor than as a host.

Did I miss any other of your suggestions?

Rosenbloom was coming off that memorable pairing with Salisbury

Always liked Jonathon Hood...thought it was pretty dorky when they decided to "coolify" him with the "JHood" moniker. I didn't remember the Telander stuff. I just thought he was pissed because he was getting skipped over for better slots and either quit or was not renewed.

Mac,
Were you just bored with sports radio? I doubt you actually thought it would be more challenging to talk for 10 minutes an hour around music being played. I don't blame you. North got bored and became politics radio. Bernstein got bored and became social issues guy.

Do you still feel excited to do sports radio or is it just what you are good at?

Jonathan was driving the afternoon drive show on the Score.

How much did you really like him if you missed that part of his career?
