Leash maybe you read it this way, but I certainly did. When we met him, it sounded like he is in the lowest social strata and income bracket among his group of friends. He was pretty direct in saying that his friends are much smarter than him- hedge fund guys and the like. So you're probably right.
He was being self deprecating. If he is pulling down $500K (with the ability to make more than if he wanted to hustle) he is making more than most of the doctors, lawyers and robber barons from his youth.
