PECOTA has never been one of the better projection systems.

Bryant is hitting at least 45 home runs this season and batting nearly .300. This thing fucking sucks.

Has PECOTA ever predicted a major league hitter to hit over .276 or a pitcher to win more than 13 games?

90 wins and the winningest pitcher on the staff only has 13 wins...

That would make for a shitty season.

I think Shwarber will hit 50 home runs. Especially if he's in the lead off spot most of the year. Cuz that will get him more plate appearances.

There's no way Bryant and Schwarber should be less than 50 HR each.

Looks pretty accurate to me.

Is Lackey really ahead of Hendricks in the rotation? That sounds like a bad idea.

In the regular season, it really doesn't matter.

But it does matter to a small degree, which makes it a bad idea.

Well, I doubt any decision has been made. This is just another projection.

However, it wouldn't be crazy since Lester and Lackey would be considered more of the workhorse guys, so if you expect Arrieta to have shorter outings here and there (like those 5 IP 97 pitch outings he likes to spin) and Hendricks who even in an amazing season only threw 190 IP... you are better able to have your bullpen prepared.

Small potatoes but it could matter during a long season. The only spot that gets skipped sometimes is #5, so the #3 starter essentially makes the same starts as the #4 starter.

No it doesn't matter at all. All that matters is the number of starts in a 162 game season.

Now you're just being ridiculous. If it doesn't matter at all then why not throw Montgomery out there on Opening Day?

Is this serious? Do you know the last time an NL player hit 50 in a season? Now we're going to have three doing it on one team. This is a dynasty! 120 wins!

Of course it's serious. I almost even said 60 for Bryant. This kid is the real deal.

It's going to be funny when previous PECOTA disciple bernstein calms Cub fans by saying this DOESN'T. MEAN. ANYTHING. THEO. WILL. MAKE. CHANGES. AS. NEEDED.

I'd be happy with somewhere around 130 spread between Russell, Schwarber, Bryant and Rizzo.

Not since they started testing for steroids has anybody hit 50. Obviously, in the steroid era, a bunch of guys got 50+. Hell, Bonds and Mcguire got 70+

When I was a kid, 30 was a big deal. 40 was unbelievable. In the 80s and early 90s nobody got 50. Off the top of my head, maybe Cecil Fielder did it in the early 90s.

But in the 1950s and 60s Mantle did 50 a few times I think. Of course Rodger Maris had his career year with the 61 record. And a few other guys had 50+
