And I disagree about "meaningless". The percentage of federal funding of public education isn't massive, but still critical with shrinking budgets. I also wonder what kind of havoc she will play with federal student loans and grants.

People are being melodramatic. We didn't even have a Dept of Education until relatively recently. I don't think having a Sec of Education who is out of line with people's views is that big of a deal.

I don't think it's wrong to expect at least some level of experience when a high level position is filled. The fact that you're shrugging it off is kind of sad. We should expect more out of our leaders.

The American education system is an embarrassment relative to our level of wealth and has been for some time. I don't really give a fuck if some Conservative broad tries to make changes. Maybe it will be the push we need to actually try to figure out why our children can barely calculate basic fractions.
