It's hilarious how you and everyone else think Rick is serious. He's bored and trolling. It's pretty clear.

So if she had said "Christ Be With You" would that also have been fine?

I know it seems like trolling but there are simple questions here no one can answer.

Of course it's trolling. Have a blessed day is a non demonational saying, so comparing it to invoking Christ or Mohammad is trolling. If Dan was so offended, he probably shouldn't have accepted change that says "In God We Trust" on it.

It's only my opinion but I'm going to guess that almost everyone who says "Have a blessed day" is thinking about their own beliefs when they say it. I guess she could have been talking to all the Buddhists and Muslims and Jews too though!

At least you acknowledge that it was injecting religion into a place where it had no reason to be there.

I would contest your last sentence and say if saying "have a blessed day" is against corporate policy than handling money should be for the same reason.

"In God We Trust" is something that probably should go away too. It doesn't change this discussion though.

Of course. It's easy enough to ignore stuff like that. I'm just saying he wasn't really wrong.

Lots of Dan Bernstein haters here.

I don't think that should be on our money either. Do you think it should be there?

It's not a checkmate to bring up something else that is wrong.

Your entire reason for being against this lady saying it is that "it's bringing religion into somewhere it doesn't belong". That's clearly no more true than handing someone a bill that says "in God we trust" on it. Hence, you're wrong, and checkmate. :D

The cashier doesn't control what is printed on the money. If this cashier also is the head of the US Treasury you would have a point though. That is unlikely.

Still, at least you acknowledge that saying "Have a blessed day" is injecting religion in. Many others in this thread argued it wasn't.

The fact they don't print the money has no bearing on this conversation. The fact it's already printed on there means that a small part of religion will necessarily be involved. Therefore your entire reason for objecting to it is invalid.

Either you're trolling or clueless to how the world operates. My guess is still on the former although you're pushing hard for the latter

What are those questions? If a cashier said, "Christ Be With You", I would say the obvious- "And Also With You" and walk out of the store giggling.

The question no one has answered is "What is the reason to say 'Have a blessed day' unless you are injecting religion into a conversation".

Of course Bernstein probably should have just ignored it. It doesn't mean he was wrong in thinking you shouldn't say it. Your answer seems to indicate that you would mock someone for doing something similar so I don't think you and Bernstein are that different here.

It wouldn't have been a big deal, but again, that's not the same thing as saying "have a blessed day".

From 16-21 I worked at a few restaurants. I managed one for a little while when I was 25. Nobody gives a shit about someone saying this and if someone complained about it, it would be laughed off. The cashier in question wouldn't even get so much as a "don't say stuff like that anymore" talk. You're just plain wrong or just plain trolling here. Take your pick

Do you think that is the point? That the rest of us are arguing that religion has nothing to do with the salutation? The point is, bernstein was an asshole.

It's simply not a big deal and I'm not sure what bernstein's endgame was in chiding the person. To protect the McDonald's stock price? To embarrass an unskilled, likely African-American worker?

And yeah, in the situation I described above, I guess you could call it mocking, but only because you know I'm an atheist. The guy I'd be saying it to would have no idea and I wouldn't be embarrassing him. I would simply be amusing myself.

If you believed in your own arguments you wouldn't be using cliches like "You are trolling" or "I'm an expert because I worked in a restaurant and no one would care" like restaurant workers not caring about something makes it the right answer.

As I said though, you at least admit that this is injecting religion into a place that it doesn't need to be and that was the initial discussion. So, God bless!

Of course it is the point. I've said multiple times Bernstein shouldn't have said anything. My point is that he wasn't necessarily wrong for viewing it like it was(even if money has the word God on it!).

Experience matters. Especially here when you deny you're trolling so the only alternative explanation for your argument is that you don't really know what you're talking about or how restaurants work.

Who's denying religion is a part of it? I didn't see that much here but go argue with those people if you feel the need.

JORR nailed it above. You're defending being an asshole for the sake of being an asshole. There's no righteousness at all in your argument. You also conveniently ignored multiple people mentioning how this probably wasn't even a corporate store, making this entire debate null.
