Yeah. Racism.

That doesn't add up when you remember Obama got elected twice and left office as one the highest approved presidents ever.

It is not that we spend so much. It is how we spend it. Look at the F-22 and F-35. The Airforce wants to kill the A-10 simply because it does not kill other aircraft, yet it is the most effective aircraft in the world at what it does.

There's MANY reasons why Obama was elected twice, including the historical tendency of political parties shifting back and forth. A Republican was going to win our most recent election almost no matter what (statistically speaking).

That trend was strengthened by very low voter turn out among demographics that had previously voted Obama this time around.

If you were certain Trump would win you could have made a ton of money. He was a heavy underdog. The rest of what you mentioned are some of the ancillary factors. Islamaphobia was the main factor. If it wasn't, a different republican would have won the primaries.

But a significant number of voters voted for both Obama and Trump so that kind of makes racism as a reason for Trump's election suspect.

I do think that a perception of weakness on national security didn't help the Democrats, but the bottom line is Clinton was just a terrible candidate.

Plus, you had all these young people fired up and engaged, ready to work for and vote for Sanders, flooding social media with pro-Sanders stuff. When the Dems rigged things for Clinton all the wind went out of their sails. Some of them didn't even bother to vote.

Not Trump specifically, but a Republican winning was almost a certainty if we are to believe history.

Fear is a tricky thing. A lot feeds into what scares someone, including prejudice and sensationalism. Trump won because of his ability to capitalize on both.

My only issue with Jews is the Hava Nagila at weddings. Because I was the token Gentile, they pushed me drunk into the mother-in-law's crotch while she was being lifted on the chair. I've never been able to get the vision out of my head.

Black Lives Matter. They need for a black person to be killed by the police in order to be activated. I need more activism on the part of my activists. Too long of an interval between protests.

It isn't. Definitely don't want them doing the protesting if it were.

This. I'd go a bit further and say money's affect on political decisions in general. Special interests, lobbying etc. seem to factor into pretty much every issue. The concept of a "representative government" is now just a cruel joke.
