Church's Chicken > Popeye's > KFC.

I'm not including Uncle Remus in here cuz of the whole "fast food" nature of this here.

Not bad, though I'd still probably prefer cajun strips at Popeye's. But much better than usual KFC fare.

KFC sides and biscuits still suck though.

Agreed. The cole slaw isn't terrible and the fries are edible, but the biscuits are like bricks and the other stuff is just not good.

And Popeye's has red beans and rice, so they automatically win.

This.

On the subject of fried chicken, I had the Taco Bell Naked Chicken Chalupa today -- it was pretty good. Needed some Fire sauce of course, but chicken tasted decent enough for fast food. It would be really good if they made a version with a spicy chicken.

Is it actually a meaty chicken shell or just fried dried crap? I love me some Taco Bell. Cheap and good if you do not expect anything other than what it is.....Taco Bell.

The chicken is a good quarter inch deep... you definitely taste the chicken and not just breading. If you go in with that attitude that this isn't going to be the greatest thing you ever ate, then you won't be disappointed.

It's lightly breaded. It's much better than you think a Taco Bell item would be.

The new focus on "hot chicken" seems odd since Harold's with hot sauce has been around since the 60s (and often better).

Admittedly good Harold's is much less common since the early 1990's.

Mine used to be on 103rd and Halsted or the old ones on 47th or 53rd

That's funny. I hadn't heard anybody talk about the Naked Chalupa.

I just saw an ad for it for the first time. Super Bowl menu late add.

I was just playing on a board meme.

It's really good. I didn't think Taco Bell was capable of making such a well-prepared and well-cooked piece of chicken.

Had one today on a call out in Monmouth. It was actually real good. Did need fire sauce but I will have it again if they keep it. That is the problem with TB something good and they get rid of it. Sweet stacked tacos were the bomb and if they came back at $1.69 I would be a player still.

Nashville Hot is not nearly as good. And the spices are not evenly distributed...it's only on like one side of each tender.

I used to go to a Harold's on the north side when visiting a friend and all was fine. I never had the feeling a visit to a south side Harold's would go as smoothly. Is that true nowadays?

They dip the lightly breaded tenders into a sauce and toss them. You must have a shitty KFC. Usually they are very loaded with sauce. And pickles.

I think I over sold this. Picked some up for the wife and I and she just shrugged it off and said that it was meh. I've had it three times already and I intend to have it again sometime this week.

Recently tried both the Georgia Gold and the Nashville. Georgia Gold was way better. Loved the flavor. I had not had KFC in a long time, but I will be having that again soon

I'm oddly enthusiastic about trying this on Saturday or Sunday when I get home from this trip.

I think I've eaten KFC once in the last ten years. I used to get Popeye's more frequently when their breast+side+biscuit+thing that's supposed to be a wing was still $2.99 every Tuesday, I'd do that once a month.

what a bust. the KFC i went to was absolutely a mess. no one was up front to take an order. some middle aged couple looked like they had been standing around for 10+ minutes for their order, and 3 other people were in line looking like there was no hope. so had to bail. shame. i WILL have this again before it's gone...and just a beautiful memory.

Okay, I just tried this. I got a two-piece basket with cole slaw and a biscuit. It was a thigh and a leg. The first bite was awesome. Just loaded with flavor. But it quickly became too much. I could barely eat the leg. And now I feel like I may go into cardiac arrest.

Best endorsement of it I've read so far. Chicken good enough to kill an old person must be pretty damn good.

I tried the Nashville Hot yesterday. It was okay. It was good, but not great. Could have been a lot hotter.

I must have had better luck with the biscuits than you guys did, because mine was soft and warm.

I've been thinking about trying it for a while but broke down today and tried a Zinger Chicken sandwich. It's pretty good.

Kind of like the Popeye's spicy with the spice under the breading. Took 18 minutes to get my order but if it were closer to 8 minutes, I'd probably get it again. Good crunch and spice.
