 It's not about what's morally right. It's about advertising. Sponsors aren't going to embrace a racistsexisthomophobe.

I can't even tell if you're being serious here. Yeah, Fox News is really having trouble getting sponsors.

Now you're imputing those things to an entire news organization.

Of course I am.

What about antisemite? MANY would say that your views on Muslims/Islam is far worse than anything anymore has ever posted about Jewish people. You're offended when someone calls you an islamophobe or worse. That is your right but you are very comfortable calling people who disagree with Netanyahu an antisemite. Your reasoning for doing it? "If every statement a person makes regarding Jews is negative, I don't know what else to call it." That's odd and extremely hypocritical

No, MANY wouldn't. If you want to say it, go ahead.

I'm not offended at being called an "Islamophobe". I'm offended the term exists at all when it's nothing but bullshit propaganda promoted by terrorist apologists like CAIR.

And disagreeing with Netanyahu doesn't make one an anti-Semite and I've never come close to suggesting such a thing. But when you have different standards for Israel than any other nation on the globe, one has to wonder why that might be. What is it that makes Israel so different?

I see Trump as a vulgarian who has no respect for convention or tradition. But if I were to play devil's advocate I would ask, wasn't that the entire point of the popular movements behind Trump as well as Sanders?

Trump yes, Sanders no. I mean, Bernie was certainly a little rougher around the edges than a good, practiced nouveau-riche matriarch like Hillary. (Remember all the Beccas crying in the bathroom at "nerd prom" because Bernie didn't wear a tuxedo to "their" event and thus devalued their entire careers? Dorks.) But I think Bernie, a guy who's worked in government his whole life, had some respect for the idea of it. He just wanted to get the Democrats back on offense and try to get us back to a, say, mid-20th-c. conception of government as force for good -- building infrastructure, funding education, taking care of the sick and old. Bernie's "vulgarity," such as it was, was incidental to his ideas, whereas Trump was more about vulgarity for its own sake.

I didn't mean that Bernie is a vulgarian. Certainly not in the same way as Trump anyway. What I meant was that the groundswell of support behind him was based on people looking for change, different ways of doing things. If that manifested itself in a wildly different approach stylistically as it has with Trump, so be it. Sometimes that comes along with change. Unless of course, most people don't really want change. Which I would guess is likely the truth.

Also, I don't disagree with your take on Sanders as a career politician. His support for Clinton was seen by many of his supporters as a betrayal, but it's what one would expect.

Many wanted change. As you said though some are not comfy with it. They would probably be happier of all these changes came from a polished product like a Romney type.

The change they want is theoretical. They don't like what the change actually looks like.

Complete nonsense. Was anyone on here saying "we want change! Ban the Muslims! Mock judges! Fuck your daughter!"? Of course not. People were calling for economic change, and that's the one area where Trump has been nothing but a status quo Republican.

People were calling for all kinds of change. They usually are. I'm not talking about Trump now. Any real change isn't going to come in the form of the politician you are used to seeing.

It's not exactly the same, but it's kind of nuts that House of Cards had a Russian Scandal too as a major story line.

Do you know the history of the term "Islamophobe"?

Stop granting terrible thoughts special status just because they happen to be part of a "great" religion. If there were a bunch of people that believed in the subjugation of women and tossing gays off buildings and those beliefs weren't couched as religion you'd look like a complete asswipe to be thrilled about those people entering the U.S.

And I'm not anti-immigrant or against taking in refugees. The U.S. should take our share, and frankly, that share is probably greater than anyone else's. But to characterize those who are concerned about the immigration of people who don't share liberal Western values and have already thumbed their noses at such in Europe as "phobic" is just horseshit propaganda.

I disagree. A huge swath of Trumpkin 'Muricans are absolutely ignorant about the immigration process and would rather swallow horseshit propaganda hook, line and sinker. Taking a natural fear of the unknown to the level of extreme phobia.

This same subset of Americans falls just as easily for the homo, trans, welfare and guns propaganda.

I'm certainly not suggesting the Right doesn't promote its share of propaganda. The idea that building a literal and figurative wall around the United States is a good one is so absurd I don't even know how to address it. But thankfully, I don't believe there is anyone at CFMB that espouses such a viewpoint. Even Elmhurst Steve had some sort of kind words for legal immigrants in a thread today.

MANY already have. I'm not going to call you an Islamophobe or anything else. I just know that you are wrong. Your views on this and a couple other things are based almost entirely off emotion and stubbornness and very little fact.

My problem is that you are often extremely hypocritical when it comes to these discussions. You get on your high horse and demand that others do things that you have proven time and time again that you are unwilling or incapable of doing.

You can disagree but if you do you're not being logically consistent. You're the same guy making the argument that Schaumburg and Plainfield are racist because of their demographic breakdown. So we can look at demographics of who's on tv at Fox News if you want. Or I could give you a list of all the racially questionable things they've said or had on air in the past. Either way, you can't claim Schaumburg is racist and then take umbrage when I say Fox News is.

MANY viewers of Fox news live in the post-racial utopia known as Rogers Park.

First, I've never said Schaumburg is racist. People live places for MANY different reasons. I'm not accusing anyone of being racist because of where they live. But if you're constantly talking about the importance of diversity and you specifically seek out a house in a place that is 96% white, I think it's fair to question why you did so.

As far as Fox is concerned, I consider it a propaganda arm of the Republican Party. I'm not going to accuse the entire organization of racism just because I don't subscribe to its solutions.

You literally said suburban living is code for no black people. That's unequivocally calling Schaumburg racist. The rest of your post is based on this false statement so I can't really respond to it.

But you do accuse anyone who is critical of Trump as being a jealous Hillary supporter. That's much more of a generalization than lumping in Shep Smith with Sean Hannity.

I don't believe that's exactly what I said. I think it was more like, "there's usually a lot of code when people talk about why they live in the suburbs and a lot of that comes down to avoiding black people." For example, "good schools". What is it that makes a "good" school? And if neighborhoods weren't so homogeneous, couldn't there be good schools with a mixture of black and white students? To do that people would have had to stay and live in integrated neighborhoods back in the 50s and 60s rather than heading to the suburbs the first time a black family hit the block.

Not true. I've never accused you of that. You weren't a Hillary supporter. MANY were though and I wouldn't use the word "jealous" but I would say MANY are refusing to accept the results of the election, something they hypocritically called "dangerous" when they were certain they were going to win and worried that Trump supporters might act the way they are currently acting.

Talk about propaganda. Now you continue to intentionally lie. People were talking about the candidate accepting the results of the election. No one mentioned voters. I believe 1988 may have been the last time voters didn't question the results of an election.

There's no other interpretation possible for this quote. So yeah, it rings hollow when you criticize me for saying Fox News is racist. And I've never once said its because they disagree with me and you read the board and know I'm not one of those who do that.

So the "danger" was what? Having the losing candidate sitting in Mar-A-Lago pouting because he thought he should have won? You know that wasn't the "danger". Who is lying here? You're minimally being intellectually dishonest. The point was that Trump was going to lead his followers in refusing to accept the election results. Now who is using the RESIST! warcry and expalin why it suddenly isn't "dangerous"?

Isn't that how I described what I said above? I don't even know what thread you grabbed that quote from but I know what I said.

What do you call a person who called for a Muslim ban during his campaign other than a Islamophobe?

Do you know the history of the term "Islamophobe"?

Stop granting terrible thoughts special status just because they happen to be part of a "great" religion. If there were a bunch of people that believed in the subjugation of women and tossing gays off buildings and those beliefs weren't couched as religion you'd look like a complete asswipe to be thrilled about those people entering the U.S.

I have no idea who you're attacking here.

I'm not "attacking" anyone. Do you need a safe space?

Fooled me. You clearly have an issue with something or somebody.

Ok, well that quote is calling suburbs racist. I'm not sure why you're dancing around it. There's no other way to take that.

If you want me to say that many suburbs were created with racism as their basis, I will and I'm not sure how you are going to argue with that. But if you're suggesting that I'm saying anyone who lives in a suburb, even a lillywhite one, is a racist, I am going to tell you that isn't what I'm saying at all.

My recent comments on this subject were specific to my ex-girlfriend, though a quick perusal of social media will uncover many more just like her. They talk about diversity as if it is the value the trumps all others. But then they move to Plainfield for whatever reason. Maybe it's because they got an extra bedroom for all their consumer goods. Fine, I'm not calling anyone a racist because they own five more TVs than they can reasonably watch. But I will point out that perhaps diversity isn't such an important value after all if it can be so easily traded for 25 extra square feet.

I'm not sure how you are going to argue it either.

The suburbs popped up because of expensive and cramped living conditions in cities along with the growing desire for people to own the place they live which was very difficult in a city.

I don't want you to say anything. I'm just reacting to what you have already said. If you say "______ is code for no black people" then you are saying _______ is racist. It's really that simple.

It was specifically about Trump accepting the results of the election. It was based entirely on his statements before the election. Saying anything differently is a complete lie.

I really don't know if you are serious with your daily quest for fairness for President Trump or if it's some sort of entertaining mental exercise for you. You're routinely all over the place and wrong. Just in this very thread you "criticized" Trump's wall but last year you were asking everyone who criticized that policy why they didn't believe we should have borders.

I'm certain that you don't give a fuck but your intentional lies and the lack of consistency in your thoughys makes it difficult for me to take any of your political thoughts serious.

Come on. There are still suburbs today were black people are scarcely welcome. Are we going to pretend that isn't the case in some sort of strange pro-suburb argument?

There are places in the city that are the same way.

It's wrong but we live in a society that is still quite segregated. This means the suburbs will also have places that follow that trend.

I'm not sure how much time you've spent in NYC but it is just as segregated as any place in terms of where people live. It is hidden on the street because of people taking long rides on public transportation to work.
