Bernstein has said in the past that former Bulls director of college scouting Matt Lloyd (now assistant GM in Orlando) was the reason the Bulls were a competent organization before he left to join Orlando 5 years ago.

How did Murph stay on the air so long? His show sucked and everybody hated him.

This show and it's nonstop talk about the NBA makes the show really bad.

Why would anyone care about this trade? Does it make the Raptors a contender? Of course not.

I don't understand how anyone can be passionate about a league where 3-4 teams have a shot at the title.

It's not non-stop talk about the NBA thus far. My whole point is Goff mentioned the Magic are stupid. They essentially traded Victor Oladipo and the #11 pick in the 2016 NBA draft for 3 months of Serge Ibaka. I don't know how much power Matt Lloyd has as Assistant GM but he's Bernstein's guy.

Haven't had a chance to listen today but based on this thread it sounds like another great show.

Are you saying there are more Hawks fans in Chicago area than Raptors fans? I will say that and it proves their bullshit reasons for not talking any Hawks during this down time. Murph carved out a loyal following at nights, even when his show was clipped to 30 minutes. He brought them ratings in the mornings they had never seen previously at any point on the station. He had very solid numbers in mid days and IIRC always gained audience from the shows that preceded him.

There were a lot of the original Score hosts that faded away. That was never the case with Murph, despite his many detractors. Some may hate his content but the guy produced. Like Thibs, underlings were scared of him so he was let go with horrible results for the company

I don't believe you are correct but that is most of your thoughts. The reality is the Hawks are a team in the midst of a dynasty that sells out every game. There are many fans if you simply look at parades alone. The lazy "there are no hockey fans" is simply an excuse for the radio people. Do newspapers or tv ignore them? No. The reason they won't talk about it is they do not want to watch it themselves. God forbid they ever watched an out of market game. They ignore it for lazy reasons so they cannot foster any calls or even have a basic thought if they get a call.

But seriously, Hawks ratings are down 20% this year and below the Bulls' ratings, so it is quite possible that more people would rather agonize over a mediocre Bulls team than discuss a pretty good Hawks team. I've said it before, most Chicago fans couldn't wait not to have to feign interest in the Blackhawks anymore. This season has been a huge relief to them: the Cubs won the World Series and then they got to deez-and-doze-and-dere their way through more interminable Bears whining. Oh, and the Hawks don't really sell out anymore. The lower deck is a ghost town now.
