I recall liking that copy guy, Rob Schneider? Stuart Smalley, gosh darn it people like me. And Farley with the van down by the river.

Didn't Mike Myers fart in a bath tub. Drawings? Oh yeah Simon or something.

Change "ever" to since mid-eighties.

Jeez, Gilda Radner had 3 or 4 that were better than 1/2 of the list.

Carvey's Bush and Fey's Palin deserve consideration.

ok...apparently some of you can't tell the difference between an impersonation and a character. a character is a fictional creation, and an impression/impersonation is an actor presenting themselves as a real person in an exaggerated way.

may want to start over.

What about Turd Ferguson? That's an impression creating a character, although the character seems to be nothing more than a fake name.

It's an extension of the Burt Reynolds impersonation, so it's still part of that. Characters are Church Lady, Mr. Robinson (a parody of a fictional chatacter, since Mister Rogers is technically a character), and Wayne Campbell. Caveman Lawyer, Lothar, Mary Katherine Gallagher, all characters.

I think Belushi, Akroyd, & Murray did the Olympia Cafe bit ... don't think there were others
Garret Morris had a one-off as a convict auditioning for the prison production of 'Gigi' ... he performed a jaunty little song he wrote, with the opening line "I'm gonna get me a shotgun and kill all the whities I see"
Ed Grimley
Land Shark
The Coneheads
The Blues Brothers
Fernando (you look mahvelous)
I liked Lovitz' Master Thespian & the compulsive liar guy (yeah, that's the ticket)
Norm's Burt Reynolds
Sandler's Weekend Update characters

I was a big fan of Lothar. I showed a clip of it to my 13 year old and all I got was a blank wtf state from her. My boys on the other hand were amused.
