I had been a long time member of the old site and I guess now this site. I use to post a lot but stopped probably like 8-10 years ago. I usually use to come back from time to time to chime in in that 8-10 year span.

Now w/ the Cubs coming off a WS, I've been posting a lot here. Take the political 24/7 bombardment by the news cycle, this board has become somewhat of a refuge for me. A respite from daily 2017 life. I've never been an internet social media type of guy. Personally, the less you know about me the better. I have the same philosophy in real life as well.

But since posting here alot and reading everyone's experiences, I keep thinking back of the old days in my neighborhood as a kid growing up in Chicago. I have even gone to register on that classmates website and even got on board facebook finally. I do searches on old buddies, old family friends, and old flames and see what they're up to now.

It's sort of a nostalgia trip but for me it's now getting a bit depressing. Maybe others no longer living in Chitown understand what i'm talking about. How do you guys/gals deal with it? It sucks to see some of your friends no longer living or blaming myself not keeping in touch more with them or even current living old friends.

Not really nostalgia but every once in awhile I remember how long I've been posting here and it surprises me. I certainly never thought when I joined id still be posting here a decade later

If not for social media and trying to reconnect why would you care if they have passed on. You cannot really feel guilt for something you never really cared about to begin with can you?

You seem like a good guy but signing up for that classmates thing automatically makes you a homo.

Grow some balls, accept you're old and wait to die like a real man.
