I listened to the Monday night broadcast this week on the radio while doing some shopping and Wayne Larivee was filling in for Marv Albert (not sure where he was, but Wayne came to the rescue). After listening to maybe the worst game in the history of football, I realized one simple thing: I miss Wayne Larivee. OK, I said it. I admit it. I miss hearing Wayne Larivee calling Bears games. Yes, you can hear him do Big Ten games or do the occasional Bulls game, but it's not the same as hearing him 16 weeks a year do your Chicago Bear games. He's a pros pro and I wish he was still here.

I never understood why he does the Bulls games on WGN and Tom Dore does them on Sports Channel.... err Comcast SportsNet. I would rather just have one of them doing the play-by-play for all 82 games.

I got a chance to spend 15 minutes with Wayne after a game. Nicest guy you'll ever meet. Humble. Appreciates what he does for a living.

I heard him about a week back with David Kaplan and he did sound like a down to earth guy. He was a very honest fellow talking about the Packers (he thought they could be 6-3 at this point, but no way would they be sitting 9-1). He was also very frank about the Bears that the up and down season doesn't surprise him; that they had their one chance to get to the super bowl and they got old in a hurry.

I like him on college hoops and NFL games, but can't stand him on the Bulls games.

I just don't like some of his descriptions during Bulls games. He's got hi phrases that he uses, and I think they go better with a college game...To be fair though, since it's just him and Red Kerr on the WGN broadcasts, he does have to do more than a typical play by play because Kerr doesn't know there's a game on most of the time.

I also thought Wayne did a decent job on Cubs games when he filled in.

I do like Jeff Joniak but Wayne was great.

And I'm sure Wayne's call of the final seconds of the 1986 NFC title game was much better than 2007 "Believe me now and I will tell you later" goofy that Jeff did.

Get your quotes straight. Hear me now and believe me later!!! I'm glad Larrivee still does Bulls on Ch 9.

Wayne Larivee is a solid pro. Like Marty, I'd rather hear Wayne Larivee call all the Bulls games - not just the ones on WGN. Tom Dore is too much of a cheerleader.

My favorite Larivee line goes back to the Wanny days. It was during a Monday night game against the Lions. Scott Mitchell and the Lions were thrashing the Beloved when Wayne had this gem

"Scott Mitchell back to pass....and why not."
