Yes, it would inspire such confidence for him to say,

"Well, we sucked last year; we'll probably suck this year. But hey, buy Ozzie plan tickets!"

Come on, of course every GM thinks they have one of the best team's in baseball. No GM is going to say his team sucks the day pitchers and catchers report.

The crux of the matter is winning. Not that my team has done a lot of it, nor do they seem to be in any position to win more than 81 games this season, but they were able to put it all together in 2005. I at least got to experience what its like to have my team have the best record in the AL and win a world series. If the Cubs do it this year, bully for them....but my team got there first.

KW's off season moves, or lack thereof, have setup the White Sox to fail this year. "Better record than the Sox" will be on the Royals chalk board this spring training.

I dunno. The way Marrioti is with The Chairman, thats the way bigfan is with the Sox, and especially with Kenny Williams.

Frank, Frank , Frank

I have repeated time and time again my respect for Jerry Reinsdorf. I rarely take a shot at him. It is even against his nature to try and 'spin' things for the public, so when he does try it is terrible, but sometimes he does what he needs to do.

I have been consistant in my shots at Kenny and only Kenny and when the Sox won the Series in 2005, I did say they would have the farthest fall from grace of any recent team and I was right!

Kudos have been givien to Jerry, Ozzie, the Players but not Kenny.

I stated that the 2005 Series gave kenny much more power than he had and would ruin things.

Now what did I expect him to say? How about what he said in 2005 "I like the team we have."

I never heard his mouth run before 2005 like it does now about how great his team is?

Everyone says that is what he should say, but the players know when they are good or not and when hey hear a GM bullshitting them it breaks a team apart.

Has anyone ever worked anywhere and the company just started sucking! Here is a great one COUNTRYWIDE! The day before they got bought by B of A they had every single manager out holding meetings with Staff and with Clients at 'Functions' telling everyone how great everything was and then the next day SOLD!

I would think he returns to his 'In 2005 they said we were going to stink" line, it is much more plausible.

Breaking it down when it doesn't work is part of sports, the problem for the Sox again will be when Kenny and Ozzie start mouthing off telling everyone they quit and need to trade guys and start over. Then the offers go down in value and kenny gets mad because all he can get for Joe Crede is Matt Murton or Jermain Dye is only getting him the Brewers Minor League catcher.

A Bad GM puts himself in a situation like he did with Crede. Maybe he is healthy, but he odds are a team that is in the hunt for a playoff shot will have a good 3B?

We will see, but I have never been imnpressed with what Kenny has done, starting with his not wanting Ozzie and basically being forced into hiring him.

Kenny liked the 2005 team right out of the gate simply because he knew what the starting pitching was capable of. Don't piss on my leg and tell me its raining- you take shots at Ozzie and the players. You take more at Kenny, but its certainly far from candy and roses that you are giving to the White Sox players.

I take no mors hots at Sox players than I do at Cub players and Ozzie.

No doubt I take more shots at Kenny, as I especially think if he was in any other organization he would have never got a shot at the job an if he did it would be such a disaster by this point that he would have been gone.

I will and can rest on the FACT that Kenny did not want Ozzie as the manager and we will never know for sure, but I don't think that team in 2005 wins without Ozzie, so how can I give Kenny credit for having a guy he did not want as the manager.

Everybody knows KW wanted Cito Gaston for manager in 2004. It was more or less a favor of the Chairman to interview Ozzie, which you have reminded us about one more than one occasion.

Whereas you knock Kenny for hiring Ozzie, I give him props for taking a chance on the guy and basically changing his mind mid-interview. Its a good move by KW to put aside his previous feelings if the right guy is in the room interviewing. Furthermore, if either Mags OR Big Frank are healthy for the duration of 2004, the Sox make the playoffs then too.

kennys arrogance almost pushes me away from the team. its hard to root for a team when the two top guys running the show (kenny and Reisdorf) are jack asses

The one move bigfan gives KW some credit for in 2005 is the one I don't like.

I think any number of managers could have won that world series. Ozzie STILL has not shown any particular area of strength as a manager.

And Mark Buehrle's

"Our bullpen couldn't be any worse than it was last year. We'd have to work at it to be that bad again."

KW and the Sox know what they did and didn't do last season. But the idea is to build a team and have confidence in it.

KW did that. Oh sure, he didn't get Hunter or Rowand; but so what? Not one player will make a team a winner.

But that being said, the whole Cubs/Sox rivalry is stupid. Just like the Cubs fans who start the shit of "The Sox suck" I remind them that 100 years of not winning it all isn't something to crow about.

The idea is to win your division, get into the playoffs, and then win 11 games in October.

Last season? BOTH teams failed to win games in the playoffs. Sox didn't make the playoffs, and the Cubs failed to win even one game.

Kenny does push me away as well. I really don't like what he is doing this year with the confidence and arrogrance, I agree on the part that he can't say they will be bad, but to start telling everyone this is one of the best teams in the game? "Who ya crappin?"

I hope Kenny is right and I am 100% wrong, but if this team sucks, I can ask how Kenny thinks this is one of the best teams in baseball for 2 years and they could be one of the worst?

What really sucks is if they are terrible and some of the guys he got like Quientin, Ramirez, Danks are just not good, we have nothing left in the system.

See, I'm not a fan of Kenny.

Or of Ozzie or Buehrle or any of the rest. (Ok, I am a fan of Buehrle, but he was nice to my kid, so there.)

But I'm a fan of the Sox. I don't give a crap what any one player, manager, office guy says.

I care that they win or lose, and that they play to win.

Beyond that? I care so little if Ozzie swears or if AJ does pro-wrestling.

I enjoy going to the game, or watching/listening at home. The Sox are my team. All the other crapola about "the experience" and "the neighborhood" is just junk. Give me 9 solid innings of baseball, and I'm a happy fan.

This shit falls in line with Ozzie now going to be 'Ozzie' again! It is all crap! I do agree that luck helped us win the world series and it helps every team every year, but DUDE THAT WAS 3 YEARS AGO! You can't just go back because you are going to try to!

I have a feeling in 2020 I will hear kenny telling me about 2005 and they need to get back to that style of grinder ball.

Miami Heat fans might disagree, unless you are talking about MLB only, in which the 2003 Marlins would also be up there, but obviously with much less money to work with then the Sox.

Way to go out on a limb. Anything short of winning the 2006 World Series was a fall from grace.

Wrong again buttcheese, the Cubs got there first in 1908

The Sox won the World Series in 1906, over your silly Cubbies.

I love how bigfan, a Cubs fan, has to start a thread in the SOX forum every other day to feel better about "being right" about Kenny Williams.

Let me say this for the record. The Sox and Cubs both have horrible historys. Nobody has to remind me how bad the Sox history has been. Believe me. I know.
