That's one hell of a low-balling. Any deal with the Astros for Quintana will need to be Bregman+ or Kyle Tucker-Francis Martes+++.

and the Sox are seeking four, not three legit prospects for Quintana

I don't understand what they're doing. They didn't trade him at the deadline and now they may not trade him before the start of a new season. Unless he starts the season 15-0 he really is going to start losing value.

No he's not. Unless he gets hurt he will not lose value. I applaud Hahn for staying firm on his asking price. Either some team will pay it, or some team will offer something close enough for him to pull the trigger on the deal.

If the deal isn't right, you don't move Quintana or Frazier. Just because you are in a rebuild, doesn't mean you get rid of everybody* just because. There are few players on that team that should bring back some significant value, and thus you do not trade them just to trade them. Keyser Soze either does not or refuses to understand this, and he makes his living in baseball!

*David Robertson might be the only guy I would move just to move. But even he will likely net something in return as soon as a contender has a bullpen that struggles or loses somebody to injury.

I have to think that. The alternative would cause an existential fan crisis.

gd, its better to just ignore Keyser. He hates Hahn for some reason, and continues to bash the guy for no reason at all.

Keyser loved Robin, still loves Kenny, but hates Hahn. Huh.

Maybe the fact that the team has had losing seasons every year since he took over the team?

I like Tucker enough that I'd seriously consider that Astros deal. Maybe wait a little longer to see how Price's elbow is and the Yankees will think they have a shot and get in a bidding war. I wouldn't wait too long though because I can see Archer and Sonny Gray hitting the trade market before the deadline. I think it's more likely that Q's value goes down than up the longer he stays in a Sox uniform.

They dont intend on trading him and probably never really did...the whole rebuild was a complete sham to get the fanbase to accept letting Eaton and, more importantly, Sale go. Not saying it wont work, because this kind of disingenuous behavior has (perhaps accidentally) resulted in the White Sox catching lightning in a bottle, but forget about adding more prospects.

I think Q will be traded. Barring injuries, I predict that my Memorial Day either Frazier or Q will be traded, and the other one will be gone before the trade deadline.

If I'm wrong, then I might start to believe the whole "getting rid of Kenny's Enemies" notion.

This is why Kenny is still employed.

Jim Bowden tweeting that things might be starting again.

For #WhiteSox to trade him now prevents risk of unforeseen Sonny Gray type situation w A's last yr and premature contending issues

A potential #WhiteSox #Astros deal would be centered around a package of both Frances Martes and Kyle Tucker. However, nothing close.

#WhiteSox continue to work hard on Jose Quintana trade that could happen before opening day with Astros & Braves appear best possibilities

Martes is the type of guy the Sox love but you need more than those 2. I agree that the Sox have to trade him now. I fear injury or a 0-9 2.75 ERA start

Agreed, they particularly need hitting. I'd like Tucker, but also another, more advanced hitter.

I can go either way on Quintana trades. I think he'll be perfect for the team in 2 years when they're in position. You'd like to have somebody like him. Perhaps they think Rodon will be that front-line lefty, but a bird in hand...

It would cost me money. At some point run support has to mentally affect the guy.

I actually think that this team could be good this year so I'm not completely against keeping him. If you are going to trade him you have to get a lot in return though. Rodon looks like could be great if he were somewhat consistent.

I'm not sure. Now that I think about it we may never have been able to agree on a Quintana wager. I think Babe Schwarber may be the only one and I have no clue where that one is either.

What's your logic?

Is a full season of Tim Anderson going to replace Sale and Eaton?

Agree, but losing Eaton who was one of the defensive lynch-pins for them may "luck up" his ERA into the 4's. That would be my biggest concern.

Injury risk with Q is too great. If Astros offer Tucker, Perez and Whitley I take it.

I think the manager cost them MANY last season. Shields will be better. I think Anderson will be really good. I think Rodon will take the next step. I also believe getting rid of cancers will be helpful.
