Finally got around to starting The Wire. What a fucking show. Watched the first 6 episodes last night. Couldn't stop. Hope it keeps me this interested, great start so far.

The show goes downhill when McNulty quits the force to go to clown school.

I'm sure you've heard this a bunch but it's the best show of all time. It'll only get better.

Omar being gay threw me for a loop. Wasn't expecting that angle. I love how each character looks like a normal cop/gang stereotype but everyone is deeper than that. Very well written.

It's a great show. Tough to say any show is the greatest of all time, but it's as well made as any.

One thing I did find was that I do not re-watch it. It's a show that gets seared into your memory. It's also just plain depressing.

The best episode of that show was when the Doobie Brothers came back to the school to play! That was awesome.

Finished season 1. The old black detective is the only one that made it out OK. McNulty got assigned to marine division. The LT lost his promotion to Major and The old white detective got put on the street. What the fuck? They won the case and everyone still got screwed.

Shoutout to RPB and FF for being my sounding board as I was watching and not ruining anything along the way.

The Rawls in a gay bar scene was a great reveal wasn't it?

And never followed up at all. Just 'this ball buster cop is gay. What a change of stereotypes'

Same with Carcetti. He plowed that one chick at a fundraiser and you think he's gonna be this huge womanizer. Nothing comes from it...

They followed up when Sarge got puked on and saw the PD bathroom graffiti that "Rawls is Gay" and chuckled.

That last scene with Bodie and McNulty in the park was great.
