Yes, clearly they weren't upset at all, as evidenced by them pressuring major league baseball into a tampering investigation against the Cubs.

Odd that you would use an example that doesn't prove your point.

To suggest that Rays weren't (openly)mad he walked is absurd.

What more can an organization do, to OPENLY show their displeasure, than pressure MLB for tampering charges against the team that sign him?,

Make a counter offer?

good dolphin doing good work in this thread.

I believe Maddon was unaware that he even had the out-clause. I thought it was his agent who brought it to his attention after Friedman had left. Or maybe Theo!

They did.

The Rays — operating "diligently and aggressively," Sternberg said — made an initial offer, Maddon (and Nero) made a counter offer, the Rays came back with a second offer, and at that point Maddon (and Nero) had enough and notified the team Thursday he would opt out.

So outside of a counter offer, and pushing tampering chargers, what more do you feel they could have done to overtly display their displeasure of Maddon leaving?

I don't want to embarrass you on this as you seem to be hanging on the word but I didn't use the word overtly.

but, getting to your point, they could have demanded that the Cub contract be voided as their relief rather than receiving a draft pick or player.

They can't request the punishment on tampering.

every management decision beginning with Hendricks being pulled was terrible.

i mean, the handling of the staff was so piss poor we aren't even talking about Baez striking out via bunt in the 9th!!!!

so glad they won. everything is now free and easy.

I can't believe they pulled it together after everything that happened to win it. The thing they feared about Hendricks being left in happened anyway. Was the equivalent of Kipnis hitting a 2 run homer off him anyway.
