I would attempt to avoid it with virtually any other option. I just don't think it's a big difference.

Alright, well that is bordering on weird. It's not that big a deal. I mean I guess I could understand if it there were trust issues or infidelity in the past. In a healthy relationship I don't see what there is to be so afraid of.

I disagree. If he gets spotted having a dinner with Carly Fiorina or some shit nobody is gonna be writing about how they are probably having an affair. In fact, it'd be weird to even think along those lines.

It's best to avoid temptation. The guys in relationships who willingly want to hang out with other women but not fuck them are the weirdos.

It would be quite bizarre to have a personal rule about never sharing a meal with a person of the opposite sex.

Having a personal rule about not having dinner alone with a woman that you would like to nail and you think maybe she'd be up for it too? That's probably a good rule to have.

There are a lot of things you try and avoid doing even with trust in a marriage. I mean, my wife trusts me but if I doubt she would be happy if I had Tinder on my phone. Now, I understand Tinder is slightly more up front about what it is.

I'd rather eat with a group of people if it was possible than with just one woman.

There would be virtually no reason for them to have a one on one dinner though. That is the ultimate point. There are any number of other ways they could have dinner without it being that and he would choose those instead.

Real man here.

Of course you did, but you didn't . That's what separates us from the lower mammals and russians

The business requires business meetings and some of those meetings are one on one with women. I trust those women can control themselves after getting a whiff of my manly musk.

I did represent an oriental massage parlor once and had dinner with the female owner after a meeting. She did ask if I wanted to go to the place for a massage afterwards. I politely declined but I don't think it was any more of a sexual request than if I had asked her to go to my office to do research.

I worked under a female partner when I was starting out. We worked late hours. We went to dinner often. She had dragon breath and straw hair so she wasn't getting the kielbasa under any circumstances. However, the most despicable thing about her is that she always wanted to split the check or make me pay for food. Here was a woman making mid six figures AND who had an expense account with the firm but she was such a cheap ass she is making a junior associate working extra hours pick up petty cash level meals. She pulled that shit with some other guy who was lower on the totem pole than even me. I never understood the stereotype of the Welsh being cheap until I met her

This is absurd caveman thinking. People do business over meals. You're negotiating some deal you don't bring in some third wheel just as a chaperone.

I don't really know what you are saying here. What are the number of other ways? Just making sure other people are around for the dinner? Again, that goes back to a sign of a lack of trust then.

Most business trips I have been on you eat dinner:
1) With clients
2) With other workers from the company you work for
3) In your room
4) With your wife if she came with on the trip

I would choose any of those options over a one on one meal with another woman.

You keep on saying it has something to do with trust like it is some amazing take. My wife trusts me. If I was on business I'm sure she would prefer I not go to a strip club either.

It's an obvious take, not an amazing or insightful one.

Are you saying if you and a female coworker were on a business trip and she wanted to have dinner and you had no plans, you would rather eat dinner in your room alone then go to some restaurant with her? That seems pretty antisocial.

On the couple of occasions where I had no other option than to eat dinner 1 on 1 with a female co-worker on a business trip, it was kind of weird. Of course, the two I remember were with weird women. Still, eating alone is a safer bet.

I guess it's because I'm not married, but it seems bizarre to say this while also insisting there aren't trust issues.

I think it's more of just the thought. It's a strange dynamic. I also don't believe there are many guy-girl friendships that can remain strictly "friends." More times than not, one of them wants to bang the other.

The other thing is when you go out 1 on 1 with another woman, everyone treats you as though you're a couple, which is awkward.

I think it would be a close call but I probably would go to dinner in that situation as not to be rude.

I've been through this in both a failed marriage and a happy one. I do have to on occasion have lunch with female vendors...and yes, they pick good looking ones for a reason. if a person in a relationship cannot sit through a meal with a different member of the opposite sex without the crazy urge to fuck them....their relationship has deeper-rooted problems.

In terms of friends....I have plenty of female friends. I wouldn't make plans alone with them simply for the fact that my wife and my friends all get along great and would want us all to be there.

Just for the record, I am specifically talking about dinner.

A business lunch is a completely different set of circumstances though obviously it would be preferred to not be a one on one type thing.

Can we all agree that in terms of non-business/non-family situations that having a one on one meal with a female for dinner would be a bad idea?

If you were really trying to go about getting with a woman on a business trip, inviting her to a romantic dinner wouldn't be the route, anyway. It's much more likely to end up in awkwardness and confusion.

You'd want to get a group together so everyone relaxes and gets hammered.

That sentence says it right there. In my first marriage (unhappy) I wouldn't have wanted my wife having dinner with another guy. In my current marriage (happy) I don't give a shit who my wife has dinner with. Obviously, there's a different level of trust.
