Thought this might be fun if we can find 6-8 interested people for $20 each.

For The Masters, we would do a snake draft (first round 1 through 8, second 8 through 1, and so on) for six rounds with exclusive rights to each chosen golfer in The Masters. Your score for each day would be based on your best 4 finishers for the day of the tournament (your highest two scoring players' scores wouldn't count.) Any player who withdrawls or misses the cut would be assigned a score of 83 for those rounds. At the end of The Masters, if any of your golfers finishes or ties for first, you get to subtract six off your score; if any of your golfers finishes or ties for second or third, you get to subtract four; and if any finishes or ties for fourth or fifth, you subtract two. Winner would be the lowest after adding all four days of the tourney together and subtracting any bonus points. If there are ties, the team with the lowest golfer total over four rounds would win; if there were ties there, you would go to the next lowest golfer total and so on. Winner would take it all. I'll keep track of it all on a google shareable spreadsheet, but hoping this scoring method would keep it simple enough that you could pretty much follow along while watching on TV without having to pull up a fantasy site.

I'm thinking 6 to 8 is probably a good number where you aren't drafting all super obvious guys and also not getting too deep into the Sandy Lyle and Mark O'Meara golfers either. We would need to do the draft between Monday and Wednesday and could do it over email or a chat room -- probably can figure that out once we know who is in.

Reply if interested or if you have ideas for other changes to the format.

Sure

I'll take Tiger with 83-83-83-83 and still win.

I am willing to increase the swollen coffers of the Good Doctor, or any of the other contestants with my hard-earned AJ.

Instead of an 83 for a MC, WD, or DQ, give those players +5 to the last place finisher's score. That's how we do it in a year long contest in which I participate.

Another way to do a Masters contest is to add up the prize money earned by each contestant's six players. Highest total wins.

Or give everybody six random players, and tally up the scores incorrectly. Like old times.

Last call -- sounds like we have five right now: myself, Chus, Dr. Ken, don, and K eff.. would love to add another one or two. Will set noon tomorrow as the cutoff since we have to have time for the draft.

TBone, Shakes, Ugie, pittmike, furious, Frank, hawger???

because I am so s ure that CHUSE"s contests never had an error? Maybe if you spent time WORKING and less time getting high and watching golf your contest would work out for everyone !!

Thank you for the invite and PM newper, but I will abstain.

Sounds like we have eight folks. We'll set the draft order by the cents at close of the market today -- the high end of .99 will go first, the low end of .00 will go last. So if you have Sears Holdings and it closes at 11.49, you'd have #49... Ties will be broken alphabetically by login name. http://www.marketwatch.com has a list of closing prices (after the day closes)

Chus - Goldman Sachs (GS)
donspiracy - Caterpillar (CAT)
Dr. Ken - ExxonMobil (XOM)
Golden Jet - Visa (V)
Hawg Ass - 3M Company (MMM)
K Effective - JPMorgan Chase (JPM)
newper - Intel (INTC)
Ugueth - Boeing (BA)

For the draft, it is probably easier to do it on some chatroom at a specific time if people have any availability over the next few nights -- are there any times that won't work? If we can't find a time, then we could do it over email.

I bowl on Tuesday night.

Once the draft order has been determined, we can just make our selections in this thread. Obviously, everybody has to be quick with Thursday morning rapidly approaching.

Markets have closed:
Chus - Goldman Sachs (GS) - 228.96
donspiracy - Caterpillar (CAT) - 92.27
Dr. Ken - ExxonMobil (XOM) - 82.07
Golden Jet - Visa (V) - 89.36
Hawg Ass - 3M Company (MMM) - 190.72
K Effective - JPMorgan Chase (JPM) - 87.52
newper - Intel (INTC) - 36.16
Ugueth - Boeing (BA) - 176.65

Here's the order:
Chus (96)
Hawg Ass (72)
Ugueth (65)
K Effective (52)
Golden Jet (36)
donspiracy (27)
newper (16)
Dr. Ken (7)

I'm fine with starting picks right away with Chus up first... remember it is a snake draft so Chus and Dr. Ken will be making two picks back to back most of the time.

I'll try to keep this updated with the list of who is available and who was taken: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... sp=sharing

Here is the field: http://www.pgatour.com/tournaments/mast ... field.html

Tiger withdrew on Friday, and Henley earned a spot yesterday. There are 94 players in the field, with about half having ZERO chance to win.

That's why I had floated out the idea of doing a chat room thing at some point... we can still work on getting that setup while we keep doing this message board style. I know there is bowling on Tuesday night, but would Wednesday work for people? By then maybe we only have four rounds to do and it only takes a half hour.

We can probably get all 48 picks before then.

We're not even averaging a pick per hour right now, and this is during prime time. I am open Weds as well.
