Well, you got two guys who combined are averaging 25 and 12, compared to BW's 5 and 9.

Hughes and Wallace are equal contracts. Hughes is younger and I think he's less shitty than Wallace.

It doesn't make the Bulls great obviously. I'm still glad they made the deal. Wallace was a lazy and moody. I think he was a cancer. I'll bet Hughes is more tradable in the off season than Wallace would be.

If you have to keep him he's still more valuable than Wallace.

Addition by subtraction, I say. I couldn't be more disappointed than I am with Wallace. Hughes at least has an upside; there's at least the potential for him to add something. Wallace was just holding the team back, IMO.

I agree. I said it earlier. Trading Hughes in the offseason will be easier than trading Wallace if they so desire.

If not, you say good-bye to Gordon in a sign and trade possibly. Then the bulls have a true big 2 guard in Hughes.

It was a good trade. It's not a trade that makes the Bulls champs. Pax got the best back he possibly could for a piece of shit like Wallace. So it's good.

I like this trade for both teams.
Wallace wore out his welcome here, but will do just fine playing 25 minutes in Cleveland where he'll allow for more rest for Z's bad wheels.
The Cavs now have a real PG in West (10+ ppg. & 5+ apg.) and a better spot up shooter in Wally world, who can just camp out for LeBron's kick outs.
The only loss for them is Gooden vs. Smith and that's close to a wash.
At least short term, this helps the Cavs compete in the East.

I'm Ok with the trade, but why do some of you think Hughes will be easier to trade now? He makes the same amount of money for the same amount of years- horrible contract

What team is going to be interested in him and for what reason? The only scenario I can think of is if he plays really well and boosts his value, but I can't really see that happening. Sure as his contract nears the end it will have a good value as an expiring deal, but so would Wallace's

i was watching some other boards and people were up in arms about trading Joe Smith. I just don't get it. I know he's been pretty consistent, but now the Bulls get a chance to see what Noah and Thomas can do and determine if they are the long term answers. The Bulls just got a ton younger ion this deal with adding two second/third year players.

Smith is a good player to have on a contending team. He would be a good fit on a team like the Spurs, Mavs, etc. I think he will be a good fit in Cleveland too. But he's not someone to have as a 3rd or 4th option on a rudderless team.

What happened to Hughes? I can remember him as a top-level player when he was paired with Arenas in Washington. Has he been injured? Did he not jell with Lebron? Is he likely to regain his old form with a change of scenery?

I'm not sure...I'll grant you that I'd rather have him than Wallace for the already stated reasons

But I'm not sure I'd say he's consistently good...look at the game log, his shooting is all over the place- 50/60% one night, then 30. Yes he's scoring but he has to put up a lot of shots to do so. If he was shooting that consistently Cleveland wouldn't have given him up, that's precisely what they need to space the floor more for LeBron and was the reason they picked up Wally World.

Hughes' FG% has dropped the last 3 years to 37.7% this year. Iverson's have actually improved, he's shot 45% & 44% the last few years. I know you can't possibly be trying to compare to Hughes to Iverson, but if Hughes were just a spot up shooter, I might agree with you that 40% is OK, but the fact that a lot of his game is driving and slashing as well, 37% is horrible. Iverson also got those totals up shooting a bad % with Philly because he was pretty much the only scoring option. Hughes is going to be with plenty of players now who take a lot of shots- Gordon, Hinrich, Nocioni, etc. So we're going to have some guy shooting 3-10 most nights, he'll probably average ~10 pts & 3 rebounds. Great.

I think Hughes is better than having Ben Wallace on the Bulls. I think Wallace could work out well in Cleveland just like I think Shaq could work out well with the Suns. A change of venue is sometimes needed.

I do however fully expect to dislike Larry Hughes until he is gone from Chicago, hopefully with locker room issues.

We traded crap for crap. Arguing which crap is slightly better doesn't matter much. I don't think we upgraded our team by this trade. We added two decent parts that will be gone sooner rather than later.

An expiring contract is an expiring contract. As Keith Van Horn showed, the player doesn't really matter.
