What a plot twist when we learn that Braun himself is Jewish.

I'll be stunned if Heyward doesn't win the MVP.

Gorgeous day at Miller park yesterday and I give credit where it is due. Heyward hit the ball real well yesterday. Not only getting 2 hits and driving in 3 runs, but even when he made outs in the other 3 at bats, he hit the ball well. Braun made a great diving catch to rob Heyward, the 2nd baseman made a great play to retire him on a sharply hit ball that seemed ticketed for right field and in his final at bat the CF made a nice catch at the top of the wall. I hope it means they have figured some things out and this day is not just a guy hitting well against crappy pitching. SChwarber's HR to CF was nice. Zobrist's HR to RF got out of the park about as quickly as possible. Arrietta looked good, except for the homer to Braun. That guy is still a special hitter. A sweep would have been nice, but another series win works. I have to say, I made a brilliant move, as we brought our golf clubs with and instead of fighting traffic going home, we went and played golf at Hanson Park golf course, just over 3 miles from Miller Park after the game. Just played 9 and the course was pretty lame (super short and easy) but by the time we finished, the traffic was gone and we still got home by 8.

If every playoff team they face can lose a major player the Cubs should be able to repeat last year's performance entirely

The season has just begun and you are talking about the Cubs chances in a playoff run already?? They look like a team that should repeat as division champions, but it's a long season, injuries will happen and have to be overcome. Fortunately, they have a good bench and help at AAA if needed as well. But I'm ready to ENJOY THE SEASON, rather than wanting to jump ahead to the playoffs already. it's going to be a fun season, so enjoy the ride.

This season will be similar to last season: bottom feeding on teams who chose not to compete before the season started.

Reminds me of that sound-drop Murph used to play all the time...Something like..."The Cubs don't have to get any better, the other teams just have to get a little bit worse".

I certainly hope they can beat up on teams like the Brewers and Reds fairly often. To win a division, a team has to beat the dregs regularly. They had a good record against winning teams last year too though and that's why they wound up with 102 regular season wins. You can try to discredit them, but it's not really an accurate assessment of what took place in 2016. But again, I hope they do beat up on the lesser teams this year, like the Indians will probably bottom feed on teams like the White Sox this season on their way to winning the A.L. central.

56 games against teams with winning records. That whole NL was a bottom feeder. I guess thats why they lost 6 games in the playoffs.

And won 11. Winning 11 out of 17 is same pace as a 104 win regular season. Thanks for playing.

And managed to beat the team that beat the 2 top teams in the AL . Sox nation should probably sit this one out.

Sit what out? I said almost the entire NL was a bottom feeder last year. Using the nuumbers Kirkwood posted, my statement is factual.

11-1 > 11-6. Also a fact. Not to mention that the Sox beat the defending World Series champions in the DS. They didn't get to play some Wild Card team who had to use their best pitcher in a one game playoff.

A title is still a title, but there is one World Series winning team in Chicago that had one of the all time great postseason runs. And it wasn't the Cubs.
