They have a much better chance to sign him if he isn't cleared by June deadline, but still can but
it will cost them a ton more.

It doesn't matter about other players it is all about international money.

What does this mean? Sorry I dont speak scout.

I do agree that he looks pretty fucking good and at his age it would definitely be huge to add a corner OF bat like his to the stable. I just dont think Jerry is interested in paying him and he will go to a different org that will. Sox were in on Moncada too.

It means he has a V shaped torso. A thin waist and broad shoulders. You could show a movie on his back. He's got a hell of a man's body at "18".

The Sox have a private workout with Luis Robert. They paid big for Abreu. If the like him they will make a competitive offer. Hopefully Moncada and Abreu can help to recruit.

Somebody else will offer him more money and the Sox will shy away because they dont see him contributing as much as an aging veteran to winning games in 2017

There are two ways he winds up on the Sox. They could get lucky and he just signs here because nobody else wants to sit in the penalty box for two years when the new system basically guarantees each team a top 50 overall intl free agent every cycle. Or he doesn't hit the market until after the deadline and Sox, owing to some sort of unforeseen organizational shift in philosophy, decide that they will spend their entire bonus pool and the influence of Abreu/Moncada persuade him to join the Sox.

My guess is he signs with the Cardinals, who will recognize the money value he presents and has the good sense to know the White Sox "rebuild" is a sham and any Sox interest in Robert is done out of an obligation to perpetuate that farce rather than actually improve the team's long term chances.

It doesn't seem to be bothering the ace who is pitching in this game.

Latins don't do well in this weather, remember?

Quintana is struggling.

Jones, Castellanos and Kinsler hit home runs.

Dusty knew his shit, I tell ya.

Quintana's value is only going to decrease, as he accumulates a losing record behind a lousy team. You think he doesn't know he has little chance to win with this team? He's locked into a long term deal, so if he sucks this year, it has little effect on him. Hahn has miscalculated and held onto Abreau, Robertson, Quintana, Cabrerra and Frazier too long. Maybe in Robertson's case it works out, since a closer at the deadline could be overvalued by the right team. Hahn has had a terrible run as GM.

Quintana had a losing record as he pitched in the All Star game last year.

Go eat hay and sugar cubes.

In a season with the Sox or whenever they trade him.

I don't really think a couple bad starts are going to really devalue this guy. The modern goof working in a front office sees this loser the way Juice's Lecture Notes does.

The only modern goof is Rick Hahn for not taking the best deal on the table this winter, if the Astros or Pirates didn't want to "meet Hahn's price" in December they definitely dont now. This is a massive fuck up by the front office, and its compounded by not making necessary move elsewhere also. They aren't going to get any worthwhile prospects for Quintana and they'll be picking outside the top 5, the Sale and Eaton trades didn't bring back enough talent to rebuild this franchise single-handedly. Best case scenario the Sox are back where they were the last 5 years, trying desperately to plug holes in a futile effort to not waste the primes of young, very talented players.

40% of W/L% can be explained by run support, for pitchers average-or-better in peripheral stats.

I don't know what "run support" is. Are you talking about the number of runs allowed by the guy who is pitching better than Jose Quintana?

There is no stat to explain it away. So far this year Q has sucked monkey balls.

I don't know what "run support" is.

The rate at which a given pitcher's batting lineup scores runs while he is in the game, normalized to a 9 inning total.

I've shown you the math detailing the correlation between such concept and W/L%, and you either don't (or are incapable of) understanding its significance, or do understand its significance, and are trying like hell to pretend it doesn't exist.

 Now you're telling me the team that scores more wins most of the time. You act like it's magic. It's produced by guys pitching better than the loser you're defending.

So it's "incapable of understanding its significance" then.

Yeah, I don't even care about the Win Loss thing in general. I just know Quintana isn't very good.

I'm warming up to JORR's point on Quintana.....he's way out of his league pitching int the #1 spot. He's a 3 or 4 on a contending team.
