Well, also for breaking into a private network hub and using it to send download requests from JSTOR to the tune of 200K individual sessions per hour, which not only caused JSTOR's live site to hang, but also caused an entire swath of the aforementioned private network's servers to be blocked from accessing the site, only after JSTOR blocked his original accessing IP, and he got a new one to resume downloading en masse. He also rejected a plea deal that would have had him home in 3 months [with a one-for-one program, 6 if he didn't qualify].

I've heard or seen the story recounted hundreds of times, and each and every time, Swartz does less and less, the government more and more, now being referred to as "the little guy".

The truth is, he broke and entered into an area containing switching gear of a private computer network with the intent to gain unauthorized access to it. That's two crimes. He granted himself access to said network which assuredly was unauthorized. That's another, we're up to three now, one of which is a felony. He did this multiple times, and evaded efforts by his target to block his access.

The guy committed a host of crimes, and at the end of the day was going to go away for only 3-6 months (some people say the offer was 4 months, so that'd be 2 months on a day-for-day plan) in exchange for giving prosecutors 13 felony "convictions". That's a reasonable exchange considering the multiple felonies he actually committed (not just the "every download is a separate charge" variety), across separate instances.

The guy was brilliant, there's no denying that, but people need to be held accountable for their actions. It's silly to want to give him a pass because he started reddit and hated SOPA, which is exactly what is done when people place the onus of his death on the federal government, or otherwise say or imply he was persecuted or treated unfairly.

Also for people like me who lost interest in the Hawks in that era old man wirtz took them off tv and killed a whole generation of a fanbase - they're probably the easiest team to jump on and off the bandwagon for and not really getting emotionally fractured.

I'd just like one more Cup now that I've been watching this team regularly since 2010. I've learned so much about the game in that time frame, I want to experience a successful run understanding the game at a level that just wasn't there for the first one.

This is the first time since the Toews/Kane era started that this team has entered a playoff series without the intensity needed to play playoff hockey. The first time overconfidence has been an issue.

I'll be recording tonight's game and fast forwarding from the start until I see a 1 on the board for the Blackhawks. If they aren't interested in playing hockey, I sure as shit ain't gonna waste my time watching it.
