Goff just said they coasted through the regular season like they always do. That's why they're down 0-2.

Umm, Jason, they are the number 1 seed. That's hardly coasting through the season, dumb ass. Stick to basketball, buddy.

It could be argued that they outplayed them in Game 1. Yeah, that 3rd period sucked in Game 2. But they hit the post twice in the first 2 periods. Could have been 2-2 in that game.

This overreaction is amazing.

They might lose the series. Of course. Odds are that they will being down 0-2. But it's because hockey happens sometimes.

I think Nashville hit a couple posts as well.

Blackhawks now underdogs at +275 for the series.

Fine. Hawks deserved to lose game 2. They sucked. But Game 1 wasn't horrible.

And I'm not shilling for the Hawks. Cuz during their 3 cup runs, they won some games where they were outplayed. Many of those games changed the course of the series.

Not a terrible bet ... any other team probably is 5-1 or better.

I'd probably place that bet. They look dead, but I could see them getting on a roll.

Sometimes in the close games, yes. Not always. But sometimes. That should be obvious to you.

I don't know exactly how you'd measure it, but one could probably figure out an estimate as to the degree of luck. Given that so few shots actually end up being a goal, you could simply look at each goal scored. How many occurred because of a crazy bounce off the boards, or hit a skate and go in accidentally, post in, off the back of the goalie. If hockey games ended up with 20 goals per game, then luck wouldn't play much of a part. But when you have 2-1 games, it is pretty apparent that lucks plays a large role. And by luck, I mean completely random events where the puck goes in a way that was not intended.

Right. In no other sport does the team that out played the other lose more than in hockey. It's just the greater percentage.

In hockey you can totally out skate the other team, out hit them, possess the puck longer, out shoot them and still lose 1-0 cuz their goalie was awesome and they got a cheap goal cuz of a bad bounce.

Bernstein just asked Goff how the Bulls winning this series gets them closer to a championship. That's fucking hilarious. Like asking someone how a team scoring more points than the opposing team gets them closer to winning a game.

How does winning this years title get you closer to a championship in 2018?!?!

It's weird. Since they don't reseed in the NBA, the Bulls won't get the Cavs in the 2nd round. They'll play the winner of the 6-3 seeds. Cavs get the winner of the 5-4 matchup. So the Bulls could get to the conference finals. Where they will lose to Lebron, of course.

But wouldn't a conference finals appearance be considered a good season?

Long way from that, just saying.

If the Cubs would not have won the World Series last year the MLB playoffs would be all luck, too.

You have that backwards. If the Bulls win this series they will face the 4 seed Wizards.

Dan very clearly said that as the Cubs were winning the world series. MLB playoffs = luck to that show. The Cubs winning did not change that mantra.

MLB playoffs aren't luck. It's just the short series that beats the better team sometimes. But the team that wins pretty much outplays the other team.

Cubs could have lost to the Indians. But if the Cubs played them 162 times, no way the Indians would have more wins. Same with all the other great regular season teams.

In the playoffs you eliminate the 5th starter and you use your stud bullpen guys more. Like the indians did with Miller. That's why they got to the World Series. Plus if you have and elite ace starter, he gets to go 2 times at least. 2 out of 7 times with the best pitcher in baseball gives you an advantage. But it doesn't mean you're a better team.

Oh yeah. You're right. I forgot that the Celtics are the 1 seed. So in theory, the Bulls would have an easier match up than the Cavs in the 2nd round. Just by the seeding. If the top seeds advance.

First of all, they had Scott Powers on to speak for the "good" hockey fan, and he basically blew off everything Dan had to say.

Second, I cannot stand this crap about hockey being all puck luck, goalie win, etc. Of course compared to soccer, anything seems less random, but c'mon how about basketball. B&B love to hold that up as so pure and the sport where the best always wins, but they don't (as evidenced by who won last year, I mean all those Curry shots went in until they did not. Bad luck?). More, besides the way the ball bounces in basketball, you have the variance of the officiating. In no other sport do officials play a bigger role. Like, how often will a hockey ref make a call in the final minutes? Don't believe me, re-watch NCAA.

For B&B, hockey is just a stand-in for all they like to feel smug over.

PS
For all the talk of lowering of ratings (I attribute that to the Cubs), the Hawks have more TV viewers than the Bulls.
