NBC has been done with him for two years now.

I thought he was still making appearances every now and then, but I have to admit that local sports segments should just go away. We have a regional sports network with people who actually watch the games.

They moved their studios to New York. So Larry doesn't have that anymore.

I never got sports 120 and what they were about. Or how they have an audience. ESPN laid off 100 people and this thing exists? Granted, maybe a smaller salary scale for their people. I get that. But I just don't get how they have anything worth selling to advertisers.

They don't have huge fixed costs like ESPN does so I can see how this may work, but once again I don't know how profitable they are.

Barstool is bringing in real money so online outlets can work, if they find an audience.

True. The contracts that ESPN signed for the NBA and NFL are why they are bleeding money. They didn't see the cord cutters coming. They should have.

But why are people gonna dial up sports 120 to see Larry or whomever when they can just listen to their damn radio for their local sports? Or go to ESPN for their bullshit if they want national crap. No way this thing can sustain.

He wasn't negotiating, he tried to find something better..no offers.

After agreeing to that 1 year contract to remain with the Score, he talked with Goff on a show about his experience as a free agent in the media market, and how he wasn't about to accept any offers where he wasn't able to be himself and how much he appreciated staying a place where he could be real.

Was there any Feder columns talking about him landing elsewhere? Sounds like the market must have been limited if he's signing a 1 year to remain as a host of an evening show that is only on 1/4 of the time.

He got CBS to push their offer from 350k to 400k. Laurence wins again.

I think Larry lied about "other offers". Think about it. What positions in media have been filled in this city over the last few months that he was possibly up for? I can't think of any. Maybe channel 5 was offering him some part time stuff. Or a part time gig somewhere else. Something like that.

There was a great episode of The Larry Sanders Show about how most "other offers" are complete bullshit.

Leaarrry has said on air multiple times that he never lies to you, the listener.

Why would he lie?

What would he have to gain?

Just saying. Tell me the media position in Chicago that was open a few months ago. Who eventually got it?

The only one was Terry's vacancy. As far as I know. At least of a big time gig.

Just kidding.

I have heard Leaarry boast about his honesty to the listeners. Fuck that guy.

I thought Larry's show went until 10 pm...surprised to hear him sign off tonight at 9 and the CBS national show take over.
