i'm white and yes i have. probably sometimes when i was a teenager sometimes joking with my black friends or maybe even in anger a few times.

if i say it at all anymore its basically me singing along to rap songs. otherwise, i see no use for it in my vocabulary.

I agree. That being said I haven't used racial slurs for any reason as an adult. I'm sure I did as a kid but nothing comes to mind. I never understood the guy/gal who tries to justify it by say that it only happens in road rage incidents.

I just think you should own your use of the word. I understand being angry but there are MANY more insults to throw out. If you pissed me off in traffic I may want to fight you and I'll definitely call you a bitch or a fucking burrito but a racial slur wouldn't pop into my head. I guess being black makes me not understand it. That's kinda ironic.

Interesting you ask this question coming in from O'hare a few weeks ago a heard a White guy openly using the word to describe whites. He was sitting behind me talking about how he hates white people. He kept saying those "N" are whatever. It was crazy because I didn't really know what to make of it.

I have used the word my entire life. Nothing I'm proud of but the only thing that I will say is that the context is different. At this stage I don't know if it would bother me if their was widespread use of it by whites. On some level been desensitized to it I think.

Agreed. We've probably all used it, but I'd never try to justify it. It seems that that is the goal of some, and I'm not sure why. It's an awful word with terrible historical connotations.

Except I'm an adult who would see your usage of the word--whatever it was--and understand that it is more likely rooted in your ineffectual system of dealing with anger and anxiety than it is your distaste for women, or homosexuals, etc.

But once again, we're back to you wanting to tell people--or imply--how mad they can get about some words, but not wanting the same dictated to you. I mean, why else would you bring in the word "bitch" into a discussion that had up until now focused solely on different types of slurs, if not to imply it would be ludicrous for someone to be as upset at "bitch" as a black person would be at the N-word, right?
