I'm really just curious as to why you're so fixated on these kinds of issues. Although I am glad we're not talking under the phony "state's rights" flag.

And for the record I'm abstaining from voting here

If you abstain from voting I'll abstain from answering your question.

And what is with your fixation on dual federalism? Why do you think it is bad or "phony"?

Because it's a dog whistle for most that want to talk about state's rights and disingenuous cover for most of their real motivations

Part of dual federalism is the right of individual states to some level of autonomy, yes, with interstate commerce (the non-bastardized version) being one of the rev limiters (or restricter plates, whatever), yes. Again, what's the problem?

It's a running joke in the Jbi11s household. I usually start with a phrase my wife will say from time to time, and then go silent after the first two letters of the word just to get a rise out of her. Such as, "You a bitch ass ni..." Or prolly some other things that I shouldn't disclose, but I never actually say the word. We get a good laugh out of it. She's the best.

I worked with a guy 35 years ago (we still friends) who referred to his children as niglets. I was taken aback at first but as we became closer and I helped him out a couple times I started to see the should I say blacker side of things. I would never say white kids are piglets. Depends on the context of the situation I guess.

I haven't said the word since I was a kid other than reading Huck Finn. Even as a kid never said it to a black person since there were no black people around. My dad is 93 and I never heard him say the word in my life. I heard HIS mother (who of course would be like 125 now) use the term "darky."

I wonder how many non-African Americans (should I just say whites?) have actually said this to an African American? I don't think I've ever witnessed that. Almost hard to believe.

Gives the states rights folks a break. Most of us aren't racist and MANY states get issues correct long before the federal government does.

I would argue that our 50 states represent the best laboratories for democracy. I say this as someone is is seriously looking at the Free State Project.

If you don't believe me, look at the pot issue. Legal pot is a major success in the states that tried it, but our fucking Federal government tries to step in and stop it. The 10th Amendment is a thing and it needs to be recognized.

Not all of us who believe in states rights are inbred hicks who want to use it as an excuse to oppress minorities. Plenty of us believe our Federal government is an oppressive, imperialistic force and that a smaller more localized government can better answer to its constituents.

I feel like a dick cuz I'm one of the many who pledged to go to the FSP but never did because of school and work and shit like that. I'd still like to make it out to Keene sometime this summer or next

I know that. It's why I used the qualifier "many". Even you have to acknowledge the crocodile tears coming from that large plurality

Your qualifiers are still wrong. It would be like me saying most liberals don't believe in free speech or innocent until proven guilty.

In this day and age I don't think that most of any stripe believe in innocent until proven guilty

Referencing the "N word" immediately brings into ones mind the word genius....so it's just as bad to use the term N-word.

Yes, I have.

Also, when my son walked out of the house with black socks and flip flops I called him the P***** word.

My patience grew when I had my first child. It has shrunk as more have come and I use foul and inappropriate language.

on a related note, how do I browbeat my son into showing more fortitude if I can't use words like pussy, pansy, little girl, bitch, etc?
