Probably Crede or Rowand. Maybe Tim Anderson breaks that.

Thanks.

So it's been nearly 15 years. Almost since Ron Schueler was in charge that they developed a serviceable position player. Schueler was the one that drafted them.

The Bears and Bulls rebuilds look more promising each day.

The Padres have also homered this season off of Clayton Kershaw and Johnny Cueto. Are they not aces, either?

Your manager said Arrieta was "outstanding" yesterday. He gave up two HRs and his ERA went up further over 5. Let that sink in for a minute.

well now they've spent $50m on a player who wont be on the big league club for a while it is probably time to revisit the Quintana situation.

I think Rutherford could easily be in play from the Yankees.

Quintana is the king of no decisions, he had 60 ND as of 3 days ago.

Hell, if it weren't for Jose Abreu in the 7th, Quintana's 8 innings of 1-run, 1-hit ball would have had him in line for the loss rather than just the ND he got.

Unless the Sox are going to get a top 10-15 rated player, I do not think they should be trading him.

After signing Robert it makes zero sense to keep Quintana. They just spent $50m on an asset they won't see any benefit from until 2019 (if ever...).

Until you see him vs pitching in the states, I am not sure you can make that assumption.

Because the Seattle pitcher shut down the same offense that has scored 24 runs in the next two games.

You can point to a lack of run support like in years past but Quintana hasn't pitched like he has in past years either.

He pitched well last time out. Hope they can keep hitting and you win your bet.

Quintana needs another 4 starts like his last before we can assume he's even rebuilt 2/3rds of the trade value he had in the offseason.

Uh no. The fan is far more fickle than people that get paid millions to run teams. That's why those guys are doing it and the fan is not. Imagine if a GM based everything on a guy's last 15 innings or last 20 at-bats. He'd be fired in a month.

Yeah but at this point we are talking about 57 IP with pedestrian results. Quintana will have to turn it around to regain the value he had 3 months ago

His value is the same as it was three months ago, if not greater.

It's definitely not greater. My guess is it's at least slightly worse.

I think it's greater. Teams will get more desperate as it gets closer to the trade deadline.

People say that every year and often times it's not true. We'll see. My guess right now would be Quintana is still our opening day starter next season

It helps that the Rangers are on a tear and might keep Yu

And there are teams like the Giants that can't just "white flag". I know we've been brainwashed in Chicago to think that The Plan™ is the "right way" to build a team, but it's becoming obvious that the 2017 Cubs caught lightning in a bottle. Big market teams don't just tank when they're eight or nine games back.

How so? You limit your pool, when not in the offseason.
