This really is the month that will define his career. So far so good with Robert. Now he needs another great draft in Mid June followed by properly moving assets. I think the Quintana discussions will drag on because of the ask but it sounds like there is a nice market developing for Robertson. He needs to identify trade targets for Holland and possibly Gonzalez. I think he needs to move those two early in the process because of their more modest talents. I think he can wait back on the rest of the bullpen arms. Additional relievers are always on every contenders wish list so teams will be calling him about the guys who have been productive up to the last hour of the deadline and even beyond. Finally, he needs to work some magic to find a spot for Frazier and Melky. I have a feeling someone will take Melky after the waiver period but only provide salary relief.

Perform well over the next month and he will have set himself up with a job now and into the future. Perform poorly and he is looking at a lifetime of assistant jobs.

100% agree

Are the Nats interested in Robertson?
I heard the RedSawx might be looking at Frazier.

I think you need to look at the general opinion of third party reviewers of last year's work.

2016 is still too early to call. 2014 and 2015 look like shit though...top 10 picks..that's the bounty of tanking. that's where you have to add your Kris Bryants, your Kyle, I mean Ian Happs....

Zack Collins isn't hitting, Hanson might be solid though.

If my GM treated top 10 draft positions like Hahn, I wouldn't want him tanking either...

Such as?

I remember seeing B-pluses for the 2016 draft--that's good, not great.

Collins defensive improvements are a bigger deal than his offensive struggles.

No doubt, they draft Carson Fulmer and we draft Ian Happ.

"You" also drafted Kyle Schwarber who might be a lot worse than both of the guys you listed.

Kyle Schwarber could retire today citing his sucking and the pick would still be great. His WS performance was worth it.

It's a bit early to write off Fulmer. He's not doing that bad in AAA.

Collins has over an .800 OPS even without hitting. Worry about Babe Ruth hitting under .200.

He should, it's A ball and he's 22. Schwarber had a 950 OPS in A ball the year after he was drafted.

Great comeback. What's the average age in this league?

As a Bears I know all about bad drafts. This is the Stockholm syndrome of defending a draft class....our top ten pick isn't doing THAT bad....

About that age. But you know you have a gem when they destroy the league...not "tread water with an OPS just over 800".

Collins looks like a better than average defensive catcher now. even if he hits .220 there's plenty of value. that Fulmer pick though. BAD.

About C.J. Edwards weight...so that doesn't bode well for Collins projections in MLB if he can't even pace Schwarbers #'s in the minors. Hopefully he becomes the best defensive catcher in MLB history.

Because Schwarber is not hitting it means Collins also will not. Got it. I will bet that he's a better defender than Schwarber already. So there is at least that going for him.

Let's put it like this....Schwarber is probably the worst Cubs 1st round draft pick of the Theo era(so far, or maybe Almora, we shall see..). Collins might be the best.(since 2012). Where does that put you?

Jim Abbott was a better defender than Schwarber will ever be.

No doubt. He was also a better starting pitcher than Rodon will ever be, as well.

Other than already having a lower career ERA, spot on assessment. Your White Sox obsession is noted though.

Cmon, the guy who just hit .450 in the world series and is a perennial 30-40 hr a year guy?

You need to look up the definition of the word perennial.
