What if the girl in the video went an committed suicide if the school refused to do anything?

I think it's bigger than Naperville. The idea that some idiot teenagers who foolishly record themselves having sex are trafficking in child pornography and can be put on a sex offender register for life is reprehensible.

From what I gather, while school administrators are good at getting tough on physical violence, they could care less about bullying/emotional abuse.

Like I said, tragic but you can't blame the school or the police for this.

I think everyone would agree they have to do something, but they way they went about it was 100% wrong.

Or the person who recorded it could be more responsible than the person who didn't, regardless of gender.

What crime was committed? We have over corrected this problem.

I also find it outrageous that people are being sent to jail for more years sometimes more than 10 for sexting a minor. If the minor was able to start a relationship, then he or she could have just as easily Googled to see the exact same type of images.

it's no big deal

at least at my high school, the "resource officer" (what they called them) was a real cop. He ended up becoming deputy chief after serving in that role.

The cop in this story was Naperville PD

If its posted online or something, there should be some sort of punishment, but jailtime or putting them on the Registry is not going to solve the problem.

That's right. I guess the kid was playing it back for his buddies,too. That wasn't too nice. I think this kid might have had issues to begin with. That was a shocking resolution to a problem.
