Yeah I agree Cashman. If you go into any movie already with negative feelings you aren't going to like what you see. That's why Shakes opinion on anything DC shouldn't be taken seriously.
Uh ok.
On the flipside, I would argue that any fanboy who sees these movies the weekend they come out despite awful reviews shouldn't have their opinions taken seriously. Those fanboys always say the movies are good as if they are trying to rationalize and justify their idiotic decision.
What was the last comic book film you saw in a movie theater?
I don't go to the movie theater, bad back. Last movie I saw in the theater was I am Legend and that was a mistake, but I guess that also qualifies as last comic book movie I saw in the theater. But, I would never see any movie opening weekend, that's just a personal preference. I also believe, just like Cubs fans until recent success, people who go to see crappy movies in the theater as soon as they come out are the reason that most of those movies suck. By blindly giving DC and Marvel money you are eliminating any incentive they have to actually make good movies. Why bother if idiot fanboys are going to line up in droves opening weekend no matter what?
Regardless of box office take, the negative reviews have changed the tone of the DCEU. You'll see it first with WW, and then again with JL.
As someone who hasn't seen a movie in a theater for 10yrs I just don't really see where your complaint has any weight behind it. Like I've stated before, I go to these comic book movies to be mindlessly entertained. Pay $21 for 2 tickets on a Thursday or Friday night is not that big of a hit to my wallet. I enjoy the theater experience.
Btw. Have you tried going to a Marcus Cinema? Their main theater has an ultra screen with stadium seating. You can buy beer, and the leather recliner seats can lean back without anyone's big head obstructing you. It's truly an experience. There are a couple in and around Chicago land if I remember correctly.
You do have a point in that the negative reviews have, at least on the surface, appeared to cause DC to put more effort into their movies. WW looks really good, but not surprising since the actress stole the show in Batman vs Superman.
I've heard about those theaters with the great seats, that might be a good option for me. But it won't solve the other issue I have with movie theaters, not being able to smoke weed in them.
I'm cool with waiting for movies to come to the tv, I've got a really nice home entertainment set up and enjoy having access to a pause button.
And just for the record, I want all these movies to be awesome, I'm not cheering for them to fail. I'm a lifelong comic fan just like you. Also don't have a stake in marvel vs DC, want them both to be great. But as of now, Marvel is destroying DC on that front.
