UNINCORPORATED
I don't know why but I find that inclusion in both the headline and the first graph...odd...
speaking of unincorporated, when i was growing up in elk grove you'd hear this story about how in one of their unincorporated areas (from tonne to arlington heights road / landmeier to.... uhhh..... shit is it maple lane or walnut? great streets to go smoke one on if you weren't dumbass enough to have some cops waiting for you to get out of that subdivision =) there was an infamous case in the early-to-mid 80s where some uhhh.... i wanna say pregnant chick was having some kind of super-complication with her late-term-pregnancy and the baby needed IMMEDIATE medical attention, so even tho the policy was that she had to call some superior ambulance type service (or hell, even some generic/knockoff 911 service) she tried calling up elk grove 911 to get elk grove ambulances out to unincorporated to get her [bills/prices be damned] but they gave her a hard-n-fast NO and then she had to wait like 25-45mins for the superior-ambulance-type-service to show up and in that period of time the baby died. there was some kind of a raging civic debate on whether or not unincorporated-status > human life or vice versa.... i can't even remember if it changed anything, only that it was one of those things you heard your parents talking about when you were a kid.
so that said, i guess if you don't plan to die or get robbed unincorporated is great in that it saves you a few bucks [let's be real: sidewalks are unnecessary =] and ti's a great place to burn one.... otherwise.... yeah, there are some real-world downsides to the whole unincorporated deal.
