I saw a Metallica bootleg recently where in the middle of a song they all just started playing giant bongos or some shit for 5 minutes. Dumbest shit I ever seen.

1980's Metallica would have stabbed those guys backstage after the show.

This is the last metal band that will ever be this huge (at least in the states). Sad.

The Metallica pinball game is really good.

Kinda sad to think that Can Halen is truer to its core at this point than these guys right now.

Random Fact...

There's not one Metallica song that's good enough to be on Megadeth's Rust In Peace.

No.
Rust In Peace has a 4 great songs: Holy Wars, Hangar 18, Take No Prisoners, Rust In Peace / Polaris. The rest is filler.
Peace Sells is their best....like Puppets and Lightning...it's as good as thrash can get.

Testament over Anthrax?
No. just no. Anthrax also has their underwhelming albums, but Spreading the Disease and Among the Living are fucking awesome. I'll give you The new order by Testament and recognize the Legacy as good as well, but I'm taking Anthrax.

Metallica.
1. Puppets
2. Lightning
3. Kill' em All
4. Death Magnetic
5. Black Album
6. Hardwired
7. Load
8. Justice
9. Re-load
The rest aren't worthy of discussion. Garage Days kicks ass, but an album of covers shouldn't be considered. I'm in the minority on Justice. It's not a good album. it was the third round of the same formula with god-awful mixing. It's incredible repetitive and I don't think it's held up well over the years. Tough Listen. Frayed Ends, Blacked, Dyer's Eve, One....the rest of the songs you can have.

 Tornado of Souls is filler? The song is brilliant with one of the best guitar solos of all time.

Learn music.

I'm with you on Mustaine being the best thrash guitarist out of all of them. Guy had an amazing sound and hands, but that song was meh.

Death Magnetic was ruined by the Loudness War mixing for me. Really unfortunate.

Yes, I think it's solid. Might not be great, but solid.

Well that song was all Friedman. As is subjective to taste, Marty kills on that song and might be his best work. I will give you that the riff from holy wars is a classic and tornado isn't that. But man that solo. It's the reason all the other pros speak his name in reverence.

But they didn't get that huge until the black album. They were Lamb of God big with and Justice.

Completely agree, but thanks to Guitar Hero, I perfectly clear mix was available for download.

Justice For All should be high on the list. With that album they reached their peak as song writers. Justice has "One", which is their best song. Very good composition, where they got the dual guitar track melodies right, even using acoustic! Sounds really cool, and it's a song that is actually sung, not just yelling it. It's Lars' best drumming.

Some of the other songs are good, too, like Blackened and Harverster of Sorrow. Blackened is quintessential Metallica.

1. Justice for All
2. Ride the Lightning
3. Black
4. Puppets
5. Kill Em

I know I'm in the minority on Justice and can live with that, but to say it's better than Lightning and Puppets is flat out insanity.
