They weren't winning shit with Butler in the next 2 years.

And they didn't want to sign him to a max deal after his 2 years on his contract were up. This is the best value they could have gotten. It would have been less at the trade deadline. And even less next offseason.

So I get it. I'm fine with it. Even though I don't know the players. I get the thinking.

They got 3 young guys to build around. Wade and Rondo come off the books after next year so they'll have money to spend. Hopefully they can land a good free agent.

I wouldn't have traded him but the trade was ok enough on its own. Drafting the buster from arizona is what made it a truly awful trade.

I know none of us really know anything right now, but I am really struggling to envision how Markkanen can succeed in the NBA. Big guys who can't play defense and can't rebound aren't very useful, even if they can shoot. Best case scenario we just drafted Channing Frye with the 7th overall pick. Fucking horrible
