It's going to be funny when Montero has a deeper playoff run with whatever team picks him up than the cubbies while Theo pays for it.

This will end up being a PROMOTION for Montero as he collects his cubbie salary, a contract from a new team and a playoff share.

Montero threw out a few more bombs than I'm seeing reported. Jurko asked him if Joe has lost control of the locker room to which Montero wouldn't commit but a lack of denial was telling. He also asked who the leaders of the locker room were to which he did not have an answer.

Outside the locker room people assume Rizzo is who the players turn to for direction. Anyone who has been in a locker room understands that the guy who the coach or outside people think is the team leader often is not considered so by the players. Rizzo has Bryant's ear which makes his voice in the locker room appear big. I wonder if other teammates think similarly.

I'm sure Jesse will get right on this aspect of the story.

I heard Bosio on in the morning before the front office move. He didn't think the words were a big deal. Arrietta didn't seem to think they were a big deal.

I have a feeling the FO consulted with Rizzo, who bricked Montero.

I think this was a decisive but ultimately rash move by the front office. I also have a feeling you are going to see a division between the Latino players and the rest of the team. Almora credited Montero heavily as did Contrearas.

While the 0-31 is striking, the truth is that you don't get perfection in every aspect of the game from a backup. Montero was a pretty decent defensive catcher when you take everything into consideration and he was having a nice offensive season.

B and G were dismissing Montero's statements yesterday because Contrearas throws runners out. The truth is Contrearas has an exceptional arm that is overcoming the pitcher problems. Good luck finding another exceptional arm.
