This guy makes so many mound visits per game,it's got to drive the pitchers crazy. He get's "excited" when the ball is in his hands and a lot of times it looks like a friggin' HS game with this clown throwing it all over the field.

Currently has 10 errors and a .980 fldg. %

I think he needs to calm down. Bring in John Boccabella to coach him.

I'm pretty sure if he was making "too many" visits that he wouldn't make said visits anymore.

He doesn't go to the mound when Lester is pitching.

And he has a hell of an arm.

I thought about this a lot. I'm thinking because he's a Cubbie he is better than Fisk. Right?

He's better than Karkovice. And Tyler Flowers. And probably AJ.

You should really stop because you're terrible at this. These are even worse than your political thoughts.

06/29: Play at the plate in the first. Contreras waiting for the ball from the relay man doesn't kick the bat away which is laying at his feet and doesn't remove his mask so he can see better. Ball skips in right by the bat he ignored and what should have been an easy tag out results in a run. This guy doesn'thave the basics to be a cather and might be destined for LF.

Jimmy, you have bad, bad, bad, bad, bad, baseball thoughts. 1 anecdotal play does not define a player.

I opened this thread because of what I see from this guy on a daily basis. He's way too excitable and makes a lot of dumb mistakes.

For all the talk about the Cubs starters being shitty at holding runners(they are) Willson has a respectable 33% on throwing runners out.
He's very good defensively and getting better as a pitch framer. He also brings plenty of bat. He's a very good young catcher.

He's below average defensively with a far above average arm.

That's actually funny, because so far in 2017, his pitch framing and pitch blocking have both been above average.

I think with enough of a body of work, you'll find Contreras' pitch framing and blocking will be average to slightly above... and his throwing will be one of the best in the league.

Here's the age-old question ... who is available out there that you'd rather have than Willson (two-L's)?

Let's not go crazy. There are better catchers out there. It's just silly to complain when you actually have a good one

I agree. I'm not saying he's the best (yet). I'm just asking who everyone would rather have.

I think pretty much everybody would rather have Posey

Posey for another year or two.. Then it's going to be Contreras and Sanchez battling it out for best catcher in mlb for a long time.

I mean....for this year or are we building a franchise?

Because I think most would take Contreras if you're building a franchise. Posey is 60 years old in catcher years.
