I hate fireworks, I get a small amount of joy when adults lose fingers or hands lighting this cheap Chinese shit off. It leaves debris everywhere, it can start fires.. I'd ban em if I was in charge.

A man was killed on the Southwest Side Tuesday night when he bent over a fireworks tube that hadn't ignited and it suddenly went off, striking him in the head, according to police and fire officials.

David Griffin, 42, was with children in an alley in the 2500 block of West 54th Street in Gage Park when he set up a fireworks display around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, officials said.

Griffin lit a tube made to shoot fireworks 40 to 50 feet into the air but it did not go off, fire officials said. He bent over the tube and the fireworks went off and hit him in the face.

He was taken to Holy Cross Hospital and pronounced dead at 9:54 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. Griffin lived on the block where the accident happened.

Nearly every combat vet I know fucking hates those posts. If you know loud ass books are coming and they are because fireworks and Fourth of July, it doesn't trigger ptsd.

I've heard dozens of combat vets with ptsd talk about this exact topic. It was always a huge talking point every 4th on Ft Leonardwood and Ft Polk.
