That worthless pile of crap has served up 10 home runs in 37.1 innings pitched this year. That pencils out to a whopping 48.5 in 180 innings. Best thing to happen was him getting hurt. Now he needs to go away.

I was pissed he got hurt, I had him penciled in for 50 homers this year, it only delayed the inevitable though, he sucks and he's going to get shellacked before he hits the dl with some be injury.

You'd have to put the Abreu contract, along with Q and Sale extensions, as among the best deals in baseball. Good value for the team.

Yep. And everyone loved the Anderson extension before he was awful this year. That's like the only thing the Sox FO is good at.

They are real good at signing veterans who are past their prime, too.

Let Anderson struggle this year. Maybe it helps him in the long run. If its 6 weeks in to next season and he is still pulling the same shit with the glove and the bat, then something has gone terribly wrong and maybe its time for a stint in the minors.

Or, bat him leadoff I dunno...

I don't think he can play short. Maybe he can play second. I guess you could try him in center. Other than that, where do you put him? He doesn't have the bat for an outfield corner and they have Moncada and then Robert coming, hopefully.

I haven't watched the Sox enough to be an expert on Anderson's development as a hitter, but when you have 9 walks in 75 games, and hitting .239, that just isn't going to cut it. Can he learn plate discipline at the major league level? If so, why isn't that showing up in the numbers yet? I was curious why the White Sox felt the need to give him a long term deal so quickly. There was definite signs last year of good potential, but they seemed to be way too quick on that; it's not a costly deal if he doesn't work out, but were the Sox so excited to have a young hitter with potential from their farm system that they did jump the gun?

The issue with Anderson is the production on the basepaths has been non-existant so he is doing nothing to offset to woeful lack of walks we all knew was coming. That bad defense has magnified these problems.

This is something to remember when Moncada/Robert come up. The White Sox are organizationally incapable of developing raw speed into baseball-usefulness. Anderson is not the first player with 70 or above speed that has been a dud at the major league level for them.

I remember a Saturday afternoon game last season in Cleveland and Shields was pitching another one of his "gems". Anyway, he was throwing so many bad pitches and getting shelled so terribly that the Indians fans actually stood up and cheered when he finally got one over the plate for a called strike.

For the current White Sox team, it's probably a good thing that he is getting shelled. No matter how good he pitches, there isn't any team trading for that contract, even if the White Sox were paying for most of it. He looks completely done on most days now, but can "help" this current team by pitching every 5th day and losing most of the time.

Here are his numbers with the Sox:

Starts- 29
Innings- 150.2
ERA- 6.33
WHIP- 1.639
Home runs- 41

It's unfathomable that pile of hot garbage makes $21M.

I recall him having one horrible start for SD right before the trade to the White Sox so his overall numbers were up, but was being blamed for that one outing; it is disturbing that the White Sox took on that contract with his performance since; clearly, their scouting missed out on him being done unless they though Cooper could fix some flaw in his mechanics.

His presence on the Sox is much less objectionable than having moved Tatis for him.

It was a dumb deal when they made it. That team wasn't going anywhere.

It was a firable offense Imo, he was getting whacked around in petco.. A struggling pitcher in the biggest ball park in the majors and SF and LA are pitchers parks too.. Bring that bum to the AL and a hitters park was dumb, he's old and bad, he never was really that good, not sure how he got that Nick name.

Was a good and dependable pitcher, and innings-eater, for a decade. He just lost it last year (or the year before).

Mean-ha-while, the Sox are in a pickle.

Hawk riffing on diversity ("the talent pool") in baseball. Fortunately, there was a pitching change; he could have gotten himself into trouble.

Indeed, I mean just that.

Sometimes the holes on this team are more like gigantic chasms.
