Can I get a list of Cubs posters who don't count when they say stuff?

My God, are you really all this anxious to okay "gotcha" over Cubs statements?

If a Sox fan from Texas says Davidson is the next Alex Rodriguez, you think that's fair for Cubs fans to bring up? And if so, why the fuck would you care? How are you associated with that person in any way other than both calling yourselves Sox fans?

Well, attacking an umpire, not a coach certainly puts an entirely new perspective on it Francis.

I really don't like the comparison to Mike Trout. In Trout's first taste of MLB he slashed .220/.281/.390 in 140 at bats and only hit 5 home runs. Ian Happ on the other hand put up .262/.338/.577 and 10 home runs in his first 140 at bats. Clearly Happ is shaping up to be twice the player Trout is, not to take anything away from Trout, he is still a very good player.

Projecting upside after a third of a season is silly, but if forced to do so I'd pick Andy Van Slyke as Happ's ceiling. The main differences is that Happ is less of a defender but he's a switch-hitter and thus doesn't have to be platooned like many LH CF do.

Van Slyke was a 4-6 WAR guy during the beginning of the steroids era (not saying he used, just that it's the era), but was a 2-3 WAR guy with St. Louis before he was traded to Pittsburgh. Early in his career he played some 3B/1B as well as all three OF positions. Blending the two and adding in games due to not needing to platoon, and you end up with 20-22 HR and a high .700s WAR.

That Pirates outfield... Bonilla, Van Slyke, Bonds. Pretty damn good group of guys.

Is Bonilla still getting paid by the Mets or did that crazy deal finally end?

If not for Bellinger's insane season, Happ would be the leading candidate for ROY in the National League. That's crazy. Waves of talent. Eloy is next(provided he's not dealt for Archer)

Still another 18 years on the Bonilla deal.

3 straight years of them all sucking in the playoffs though.

Good for him.

And another 12 years paying Bret Saberhagen. These 8% deferred deals looked good until the Mets owner found out he wasn't actually earning 12-15% a year from Bernie Madoff.

July 1 is Bobby Bonilla Day.

The second most brilliant deferment in modern sports history. The greatest, of course, is the Spirits of St. Louis agreeing to not join the NBA from the ABA in exchange for still keeping a TV share from the four teams which did join, in perpetuity.

Happ is better than Matt the bat, this kid might hit 30 homers this year with a late call up.

Well, he was destroying AAA pitching, so...

Still, it's nice that one of the under-26 guys is actually exceeding this year's expectations of them.

You called it success when he was hitting .210, which prompted the entire discussion.
