That might be his downfall, trying to jack one out all the time. I think he is a better hitter than that. He got a seeing eye single yesterday to bring in a few.

There is a lot to like about Happ but he does strike out an awful lot. I know modern stats say a strikeout is just an out but for sustained success I'd feel a lot more comfy with a strikeout rate that doesn't rival Mark Reynolds. I thought for a while that he was going to be the trade bait but with the cliff Zobrist has fallen off since last year's all star break (I'm not discounting his game 7 performance) I don't think they are or should be in any hurry to trade him.

Yeah everyone making a big deal out of Zobrist's return to the lineup like it's some huge deal. He's sucked for the better part of a year now.

Its a bit of cherry picking... but his last 20 games look something like this .321/.360/.667. Has a hit in 18 of 20 of the games

"We" didn't shorten anything.

I'd like to shorten his stay in a Sox uniform.

I had the Cubs game on the car yesterday and caught the Joe Maddon post game interview on 670. He called Ian Happ, "Happy". I flip back over to ESPN 1000 as is my custom these days, and the two fools are debating Happ's nick name. They came to the conclusion that Happ wants to be called "Happer", which made me wonder why Maddon is calling him "Happy".

Whatever.

Happy would be better because it would also be ironic given the fact the dude never smiles and looks like he is pissed off all the time.

Why would you take two fools opinion on a nickname over the guys manager?

I just assume they hadn't heard the post game interview. But it was funny that like 2 minutes earlier Maddon was calling him one thing, and the other station was debating Happ's preferred nickname.

Given the whole Happy Gilmore thing, I think Happy is about perfect.

Because the Manager is likely more of a fool than whoever Denis was listening to on 1000 yesterday?

I'll wait for Hawk to give him a nickname.

At least Hawk is creative. Happy and Happer are both pretty unimaginative. At least do something like "IHAP".

It's the kind of nickname I would expect to be created by hockey players

In my book, nobody gets a nickname until they actually accomplish something. I go back to James Thornton,Bears TE as Robocop and Raymont Harris as Ultraback.

I'll pack Happ's bags if it means the Cubs get Sonny Gray.
