surprised they haven't edited him out of the Gatorade commercial about failure fueling you. Although now maybe it's more appropriate

Seems Joe is looking for him to get some sort of histrionics leading the Cub back to first place.

Will be interesting to see what position he bats in the lineup.

Most likely play in left field?

I assume left. To this non fan observer I would think a couple players now on the roster should be pretty pissed off with their upcoming bench position.

Yeah - I just heard the update say Lackey is going to the DL to make room on the roster (plantars fasciitis?). An interim move for sure. Somebody on that bench is going back down indefinitely if/when Kyle gets his groove back.

Either way, a nice rain out make up game to listen to at work this afternoon. 8)

I think I'm going to chill at home a bit and watch it. Most of my work is done for the week as far as stuff I can't do here so yeah, baseball, a beer or two and paper work it is.

Lackey going to the DL is actually a great offsetting move. With the AS break, the Cubs don't need an active 5th starter until probably 17th or 18th. Gives Maddon an extra position player to screw around with for the next ~8-10 games.

Good point had not thought of that. Either way, my point was that there are only 9 spots on the field and some guys deserve to keep playing.

Believe me, I had no burning desire to call Schwarber back up. But who are you referring to? Almora is the only one I could see getting significantly less playing time. Baez / Russell / Zobrist will be dancing around 2B and SS while Heyward will be in right with many Zobrist starting there once a week. Happ will be in CF being spelled by Jay only occasionally. Schwarber will be in LF, but against lefties he can be spelled by Zobrist or Happ. Jay can play CF and he has been a very good pinch hitter this season. He certainly would never feel he needs to start most days. Almora would be the most likely to be sent down. We'll see what happens. We're not too far away from trades possibly solving many issues.

Will be interesting to see how opposing pitchers go after him, knowing he's probably feeling even more pressure to perform.

I wouldn't throw him anything near the plate knowing full well he is swing happy and like you said feeling the pressure. He may be in for a tough day? However, I hope he's back and thriving having shook off what ever was causing the suck.

I don't think that is true. It's possible that he can't hit LHP and is a platoon DH. He does have great power and plate discipline so there are + skills displayed at the MLB level.

I completely agree.
- Schwarber is a DH. He does not fit on the cubs or any other National league team. His defensive liabilities cold very well affect his ability at the plate.
- They mishandled him in the lineup. I wouldn't get too excited about him as leadoff hitter either way, but it wasn't working and they kept him there way too long
- Sending him to AAA was the right decision, but I'm pretty sure they brought him back up.
- Also factor in the team as a whole is not playing very well, so it's not just Schwarber.

I think they'd be best off leaving him in AAA where he can be successful and then trade him to an AL team.

he is good. He's not laying off of pitches off the outside corner as well as he should. He'll still be ok in my book.

Ridiculous he was brought back up today. He shouldn't of been brought back until after the break. Another 0-4 for fat boy.

Figured out the dumb move by the Cubs of demoting The Babe for only 44 AB's. Theo didn't want Schwarbs to become the 5th player in MLB history to play at least 148 games and have a sub .200 batting average. Guess they are trying to protect the kids inflated reputation & try to save his legacy or plummeting trade value.

Kyle "Mario Mendoza" Schwarbs. Lol. Guessing the Cubs could get a bag of balls and a bad prospect for him at this point.

Kind of enjoying watching the kid crash and burn.
