I don't think that is true. It's possible that he can't hit LHP and is a platoon DH. He does have great power and plate discipline so there are + skills displayed at the MLB level.

He might be like Matt Davidson. I'm not saying that a guy like that has no value. It's just that it's quite a letdown when you've been told that he might be Babe Ruth.

let the record show that that comment was from an unnamed source, who both Bernsie and Spiegs quoted. It could have been the janitor.

There's no doubt the upstairs guys have a love affair with him though.

Maybe he is Adam Dunn.

I do think his career would take flight as a DH in the AL and I doubt he has hang ups about moving to the spot so early in his career. This, of course, was plainly obvious two years ago to non fan boys.

He'd be fine at first base and dh, I don't understand the move to bring him back up, he needed another month down there.

It's been a rough year for Theo. The whole team has been so mediocre-to-bad that no one is focusing much on his monumental free agent bust Heyward.

Is Heyward going to have a 6 WAR this year?

America is the only Sox fan who gets this, for some reason.

They won the WS.

Those days are gone. Even his "great baserunning" sucks. 1 stolen base and 2 caught.

You're in the minority of Cub fans, at least from what I can tell, in that you are fine with one WS. MANY said that was not good enough

Not good enough.

Missing the postseason this year, with how weak the division is this season, would be a MONUMENTAL FAILURE and an indictment on the organization.

I think this is a misstatement of what Leash is saying, IMO. You make it sound like we do not care at all now that they won 1 WS and the team can go to crap now.

That is not the case.

I am frustrated at the way this team has played so far this year. If that continues and they miss the playoffs I will be really irritated with them. But that does not take away that I got the joy of watching them win the WS. Something that MANY thought we would never get to see.

Because of that I trust Theo and Co to be able handle this adversity and put this team in position to contend for more championships in the years to come. I am not going to go apeshit crazy based on a half season of mediocre/bad baseball. At the end of this window if they only have 1 WS championship there will be plenty of time to be upset.

In the meantime I am going to continue to enjoy the WS championship and enjoy watching this team play baseball....even as frustrating as it can be at times.

if your entire organizational focus is getting into a window and then getting multiple bites at the apple, that is true. The playoffs are a crapshoot, this is the Cubs line. The division has given themselves up this season. It's time for the Cubs to get at least one good starter, maybe two. The offense is not as bad as everyone thinks it is.

I am fine with 1 WS victory as long as they compete annually which it appears they will be doing. Having said that, this first half has been the epitome of mediocrity so it's a good thing they won last year or the boo birds would be out in force.

Would not surprise me at all to see them finish second or third in the division this year.

Just human nature after such a monumental achievement last year.
